We feed mainly Fancy Feast as our wet foods, including (but not limited to) those that are free of wheat gluten. I went through in another thread and showed how I figured out about how much wheat gluten was in some flavors, and it is darn little, Think about how much flour it would take to make the amount of gravy in a 3oz can of cat food. It is not at all significant as a food (i.e., if you are trying to avoid grains). Obviously because of the Chinese wheat gluten contamination fiasco there is that reason to avoid it, but Purina pledged to test all such ingredients. Good luck avoiding all Chinese-sourced ingredients.
I do feel that wet foods lead to more tooth problems, however. Our girl that eats mainly dry has the best teeth, while the girl that eats mainly wet has the worst (though we are able to keep her in check with a nightly brushing). So if you are already having problems with one cat's teeth you might want to consider whether wet will be OK.
