Feeding frequency for 1 year old Maine Coon mix
I'm fostering a 1-year old female Maine Coon mix, Rose. She was an owner surrender to animal control so I don't have any additional background on her parents.
Rose currently weighs about 8.5-9lbs and is active/playful. I feed her the amount of food listed on the food bag for her weight sparsed out three times a day.
I'm new to the Maine Coon breed and have a question. Since Maine Coons are slow to reach physical maturity, do they need more food in their first, second, etc. years? Rose seems less satisfied with her food amount than my other cat who's a couple of pounds overweight and will ask for food every two hours. She'll even dip into my other cat's food dish if he walks away without finishing. I don't want to overfeed Rose, but I don't her to go hungry either. Not sure if she needs more food or is just being a cat trying to milk me for more food.
Many thanks!!!
