Why are MCs so greedy??

Dudley and Sylvester are soooooo greedy- they eat their dinner then yowl at me 10 mins later. They stare at their bowl looking pathetic, like they haven't eaten in days and scavenge food when we are eating dinner (Dudley just takes a running jump onto my plate:LOL:). They even bin raid if given the chance...... They are crazy every morning for breakfast and I get 'climbed' by Dudley while Sylvester nips me on the calves until I dish up!!
I've never had indoor cats before and I wondered if the food thing was a boredom thing...or just an MC thing. There do seem to be a few posts on here to suggest MCs are greedy but then again a lot of them are indoors...

We have food available all the time as Louie likes to eat often & the pensioners all eat at different times to fit in with their sleeping scheduals :LOL:

Raggles will eat all day if we let him and is always asking for food when we are around!
Tilly is a very light eater and Pomeroy is much the same. However, some days all 3 seem to have the munchies and they will all nag for food.
They do have dried food down all day and will sit there crunching it whilst glaring at us if we refuse their requests for wet food outside of their regular times:satisfied:

We have "Tia" the 4th Coonie arriving in the next day or so and like Candles we have boxes of "dis-liked" food stored away. We are hoping that she will like some of this and gradually wear down the food mountain we have collected!!

Oh my goodness Catlover, you are describing the scenes that go on in my house daily. Taking a running jump onto my plate - check. Bin raid - check. Getting climbed up - check. This is how they earned their early nickname 'The Criminals'.

To be completely fair, the jumping onto dinner plates and climbing up of legs went on until about 7 months. Now they are bigger, they can actually reach the kitchen counters quite easily with their front paws, and jump directly up there anyway. But the bin bomb/bread bomb/food bomb still goes on if we forget to put everything away properly!

I don't know if it's an MC thing or not. I just think they are young, healthy, happy, hungry, cheeky, growing kittens doing their thing. Enjoy! :rofl::rofl:

Instead of keeping rejected food around please consider donating to your local shelter...

Thanks Antonia,that was good for a laugh & how right,my six sound like a heard of elephants come supper time & if little Pansy gets off to a head start by the time she is half way down the hall she just pulls over to one side so she doesn't get squashed by certain ones in the rush .....
Also I agree with Claudel,a lot of "You can stuff that mum"food has passed from our house to the local Cats Protection,although now they are basically all mature,I write that lightly & tongue in cheek,foodwise they have settled into what they like & I have no problems so occasionly now have to buy just to donate instead.
With the sizes of some of them I can't believe what little they do eat now,doesn't cost half so much to keep them at the moment as what it did as babes so perhaps its the growing spurts that make them seem like pigs & they equal out as they get older !

I noticed that too. Tatja seems to be in a renewed growing spurt (she's 13 months now) and eats more than she's done for a while. El Monto has been eating somewhat less lately, and puts on less weight than he used to. And little Minnie I shouldn't really call 'little' anymore... boy, does she eat! She hoovers up her food in a matter of seconds and then tries to jump onto the kitchen counter where the others are trying to eat in peace.:LOL:

A day short of his 3rd birthday Shimba has had a week of not eating,he never eats that much anyway but has been a noticable drop,wondered if he was poorly but still playing & doing all the normal things,then,yesterday he went to get into his hammock on the cat tree,it has always been a fairly snug fit for him but suddenly it is just about a no,no,he has suddenly grown again,can't believe it,it has made his bruv Welly seem more of a minature than ever,I would think that will be the last spurt,just fill out time now.Don't know why I hadn't picked up on it earlier,at his monthly weigh in last weekend he had dropped weight & he has always done that when a growth spurt was due......

I'm wondering if Sylvester has any growing left to do. He's certainly filled out and lost his bony feel but maybe he will grow a bit more...
Dudley has put on 0.5kg since we got him just a few weeks ago but looks to me to have almost doubled in length!! I guess he'll be growing quite rapidly at the moment.

Oh and now I simply CAN NOT eat pate on biscuits- Dudley just will not let me. Talk about tenacious, that cat is crazy!

Walter does the same. I love having him in my lap -- usually. But if I'm trying to eat he is constantly trying to get at my plate. I grab a bite and then hold the plate over my head where he can't (yet) reach it. The other day I was trying to spread a relish on a cracker whilst using my forearm to fend him off my plate -- it did not work so well and I won't try it again!

Walter is 20 weeks old today. I'm trying to attach a picture taken last night.

Mine are the same, especially Monty. He is an artful and brazen thief. He has very long, slinky and stealthy limbs which he puts to good use, and before you know it...it's gone! Right in front of your eyes! Eh?? Ah yes, Monty is under the table, making his victorious growling noise....

I am sure Sylvester has more growing to do.....

Minos eats only very small meals, our meat or fish doesn't interest him.He is almost outside raging after everything.There is always food for him but he is not so interested.His weight is now over 20 lbs.
