You not familiar with the old joke about two house bricks and a steady hand ? Cruel, but funny.

As Peter says it is an old joke get two bricks place certain part of anatomy between & knock them together only make sure you haven't got your thumbs in between....
Can guarentee we do our cats in a very humane way, even the anaesthetic we use is very kind as it is injected into the thigh muscle,no bringing up veins which can also distress the cat then after the op they are given an anti reversal that brings them round quite quickly, all done,as we say with the boys "pockets picked"& no ill feelings....x

Nope, not come across the horrible brick thing before.
So how does the 'brick' (ugh!) procedure differ from 'the snip'? I'm curious now.

In humans men have a vasectomy, that is what in lay terms they call "The snip", but what does that allow them still to do......not what you want in the animal world {an odd exception or two, ferrets come to mind}so that is why animals are fully castrated to remove all urges, with the boy cats very easy a couple of little nicks in the scrotum, testicles through tie or clamp the tubes, testicles off, done, not a brick in sight nor any heavy handness, all over in seconds, now men please don't sit there with your legs crossed while we are getting personal with parts of the anatomy.....x
