I am so sorry that you are going through such anxiety. Last year I bought a Bengal and had her for 3 months and lost her to FIP. She suddenly became very listless (slept all the time) and would not eat. It is devastating. I wish you all the best and pray that Fudge will be all right.

This is very sad news. I know from personal experience how much stress this sort of thing causes, because there is not that much that you can do to help the cat. I also know that even two weeks is sufficient time to get very attached to these guys. It is difficult to understand how a breeder could have been unaware of issue with the cat, if they became so severe after only two weeks with you. Have you talked with the breeder? All the breeders that I have ever dealt with have been very concerned about their cats continued good health, and would want to know if some health issue was discovered.
From what I read about stomatitis (back when there was a concern with one of our girls), some cats bodies way overreact to bacteria in the mouth and on the teeth. Typically it can be arrested and eliminated by extracting all of the cat's teeth. While this sounds extreme, I know one or two people that have had to do this with a cat, and within just a couple of days the cats are back to eating wet food normally and had no more stomatitis problems after that.
One source for some reasonable health articles that I have come across is the CFA website:
Cat Fanciers' Association: Caring for Cats
There is one article on calicivirus that I found informative:
Cat Fanciers' Association: Calici Virus
There are several on FIP, etc.
I hope the situation for you and Fudge improves rapidly!

I will start to tell you how terrible sorry I'am that Fudge is sick and i feel so sorry for you.
I really hope she will get better soon.
When it comes to his breeder, often it's impossible to know that a kitten will get sick, i guess she had a health certificate. At least in Sweden SVERAK says that we are not allowed to sell kittens without a health certificate that has to be not more than maximum 7 days old.
Of course there is breeders not so good that sell sick kittens and do all kind of bad stuff, but i think most breeders are good caring breeders and sometimes kittens do get sick no matter what we do to prevent it. Have you spoken to her breeder? I guess she/he would appreciate a call from you telling what have happend.
Lots of hugs for you and Fudge!

Just to remind people, according to the post introducing Fudge, she is an 18mos. old--not a kitten. Don't know if she is a breeder retiree or just what. Anyway, different health issues are obviously more likely with an 18mos old compared to a kitten.

Hi all! Once again, thanks for the good wishes it does really help! Fudge is an 18mth cat and has been an ex-breeding queen although we were told she hadn't had any litters when we got her! I am going to contact the breeder again once we have the blood tests back and I know my facts, I'm very good at jumping the gun! On the positive side she is picking up really well and has responded to the medication she has. I should get the blood results back on Wednesday and then we'll really know what we are up against! The vet recommended Classic cat food or applaws as a possible treatment for Stomatitus. I've read up about it and it has worked in some cases. Anyone here had any experience of that? Once again thank you everyone and I've got my fingers crossed for Wednesday! She is such a wonderful girl I can't bear the thought of loosing her!
