Prescriptions

Im finding that the prices for flea & worm treatments from my vet is rather extortionate, so I found the same items online, but they all require a vetinary prescription before they will sell.
How do I approach my vet to get a prescription, & can they refuse? I recently spent over £60 on 2 boxes of spot on & a can of upholstery spray. When I searched online I could have had all for £42 delivered.
Although I am really happy with my vet, I do feel a bit ripped off sometimes.
Any advice appreciated.

most vets will provide a presciption ...but you will be charged for it somewhere probably between £10 and £15

You will need a new prescription for each order, and the vets I work at charge £8.10 for a written prescription so the cost does vary :-)

Not all vets will charge. It very much depends on the practice. Personally I would ask your vets if they can provide a prescription and if there will be a charge for this. If so you can ask if this could be a one off charge and have the same items on repeat free of charge. It is a competitive market even in vets surgeries if they want to keep your custom some are willing to come to mutual agreements.
