All good advice, I hope Clyde is settling down.
Sounds like he is saying no to the dry food, so perhaps try him on different kinds of wet food to see what he will accept. Wet food is much better for them anyway as it has a decent moisture content.
Would love to see a picture by the way! x

Hi All,
Thought I'd give you a wee update.
Clyde seemed to inprove and began putting beight back on when we rotated his food weekly, but for the most part he wasonly eating the jelly or tuna. About 2 or 3 weeks ago we noticed he was lookinga wee bit bedraggled, he seemed to be losing weight again and the vomitingreturned. Last Thursday there was some Blood in his vomit so we had him intothe vet the next morning. The Vet felt a lump in his stomach that he thoughtwas a blockage but wanted to x-ray to be sure. The X-ray showed a growth in hisstomach, the Vet said it would be a good idea to operate immediately, which hedid. Laura (My wife) then got the call to say the growth had spread all overhis stomach and was in his Liver, the Vet said it would be best not to wakehim. Clyde was cremated on Saturday, hopefully we can take him home today.Clyde was a huge part of our lives for 10 years and we miss him terribly. Laurais suffering with horrible guilt as she didn’t say goodbye properly, I keeptelling her he was only going for an X-Ray, she wasn’t to know.

Oh no!!!!
So sorry for your loss! I went through something similar too with my last girl, she had basically the "sure signs" but went in for a deep check up and was phoned to say that it might be best to not wake her up. The RSCPA sorted out the cremation and site all on our behalf and was done quickly. She is now resting in a -really- peaceful scenery in the countryside (she hated being away from home though, but we was never offered to have her ashes.)
Thoughts are with you and Laura, if you need to talk, feel free to PM me.Last edited by sbreame; 19th November 2012 at 10:53 AM.

So very very sorry to hear your dreadful news Bruce ... they leave such a huge hole when they are no longer with us. Clyde is at peace and out of pain now ... you were selfless and did the right thing for him. I'm sure that he wouldn't want Laura to feel guilty, he'd want you to remember all the happy times.
Thinking of you x

So so sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy & so sorry for what you are both going through especially Laura but if she had said goodbye "properly" she would also now feel guilty for "pre empting" it,the one sure thing is that however we loose our pet be it accident, illness or loss of quality of life due to old age we all feel guilty & I don't think there is any true animal lover out there who would say otherwise. When we are in the same position at work with someones beloved friend even though they are unaware because of being aneathatised I always give them a special cuddle & would like to think that others would do the same thing.
Thinking of you both xxx
