how to keep her clean?

for the second time, Bramble has been to the toilet and managed to get a bit of poop stuck in her fur, just wondering how do you get rid, I've tried to gently pull it out with a bit of tissue and got some of it but I think I rubbed it in more:nauseated::shy:I dont want to have to cut it but I think that might be the only way to go I can't haveher wandering around with that especially with the kids any other suggestions? I thought maybe I could give it a rub with baby wipes but firstly I dont know if she would stay still long enough but also is are they safe to use?

I remember the problem well. It occured so often that it wasn't always practical to resort to full on bath time. Most often I combed the worst of it out and then used baby wipes or a foam shampoo that was rubbed in, allowed to dry and then combed out. With some it persists and the only solution is to have their hind quarter and fur around the anus groomed very close to make the problem less likely to occur and in the event that it does, make it much easier to clean.

hmmmm she hasnt had a bath yet, that might be something for once the kids are in bed

Welcome to our world, we go through stages of them either treading in it as they are getting out or getting it stuck on their fur,
our lovely little pretty Poppy once got out of cat tray and shook said poo off her; not kidding you it was on the walls, floors, doors over litter tray outside, another time was like one of them had smeared it over a newly decorated white wall; you could almost trace where she had been; bed, floor, windowsill etc.
I'm sure they would do it for a little giggle
Not so bad now I'm at home all day I am on it before they finish pooing lol
We have an anti bac cat shower gel type thing and wet a cloth with that and wipe it off with the cloth, or if hard, brush the hard bits out, or cut the fur out
They are wise to the brush and scissors now and tend to run the minute the yellow gloves go on!

As I have show cats so no cutting and as they get washed enough as it is I have found tipping said cat upside down and then pouring copious amounts of powder on the affected area - letting settle for a minute and then combing seems to do the trick - the poo sticks to the powder - I use a lavender one which also masks the smell - this is what most people do at the shows after a no 2 accident to fix the problem before judging unless it is a runny mess and then it is in the bath we go!!!

No showing for MC Elvis, so I had the groomer shave his butt...

i use baby wipes , the non fragrence ones as does work quite well , but some times under the tap is the only way to go ....was told about the powder trick before my last show as my red ALWAYS goes in his carrier... luckily managed to remove offending items before he sat down again so havent had to try it !

really like talcum powder? I would've thought that would be big no-no the same as it is for babies?
I'm going to give her a bath as she's not had one yet but obviously wont want to be doing that all the time, fingers crossed it doesnt happen too often or I think I will have to see about clipping her hair round that area, she's not going to be a show cat anyway but still don't really want to go down that route :(

Someone did advise me to use talc on our chickens once to help integrate them, gets rid of chicken smell apparently :smile:

Bit of an old one Miss Diane , but he is so difficult to get a pic of !

Gah!! We are having such issues with Poif and poop in her fur at the moment. This winter she grew a very thick coat (she looks a bit like a sheep) and she just seems to constantly have poop around her bum area, it STINKS!! She also likes to sleep wrapped round my head at night, and now this is a rather unpleasant experience.

We have tried combing the area to keep it de-knotted and are now shaving it down regularly, but it seems even the short fur seems to embrace bits of poo like a huge never ending hug. Please help me!!

Or at least offer some advise into how to shave a cats behind in the least distressing way for all!

Beautiful cat.

I don't particularly want to be shredded, or to be the one who gets the blame for the outrage,
so I let my friendly local groomer do the trimming and take the blame...

Combo bath ( which I'm also glad to avoid ) and sanitary trim for MC Elvis is around US$30
here and he seems to like the groomer ( other than the fact that he's the only cat among many dogs )
and the attention he gets there enough so that he doesn't embarrass himself by not cooperating.

Rarely encounter this problem now they are all raw fed - firm dry poops never stick to fur and don't even smell.

We had a few issues with this too, but Sidney is now eating Lily's Kitchen wet food and his poops are very solid and smooth on the outside. I used to just trim it off whilst the front end was scoffing a cat treat! Maybe diet is the way forward?

I hold Ginger and wash her butt with a warm wet washcloth, if nothing else it's good for a laugh as she kicks and licks to get away.
