Thread: Oily Fur 7 months losing downy undercoat

Hi,
I took my 7 month old male MC into the vet to be neutered and microchipped this am. Vet said he did not look very healthy.

He has a very oily coat (about 2 months now) and just lately I noticed mats in his undercoat, so I started combing him out everyday. I need to clean out the comb a couple times during this process everyday.

The vet did some blood work B4 surgery said all came out fine. I do not know at this point what they were checking for, but will ask when I P/U later today. I wonder if it is seborrhea and/or if the loss of the downy undercoat daily is of concern....

He eats 2 small cans of fancy feast classic (highest protein and lowest carb variety) and has Wellness CORE available 24/7. He eats until he's full sometimes doesn't finish the wet food...but still on the thin side.
