Behaviour - Out of Character
My Maine coon is a spayed female, and she about 10 years old. Very active, and eats well. Just lately, she has developed some odd behaviour. A couple of weeks ago, she decided that she wanted to live in my bathtub. I put a stop to that, and closed the door. A few days ago, she was making quite a fuss at the cat flap. She was indoors, and growling. I opened my patio doors, and there was another cat who ran off. It was quite a bold animal, and stopped and looked back at me. Since then, she has taken to living outside. She will come if I call her, and is pleased to be with me. But, she will eat and then go outside again. This is unusual behaviour, as she like to be at home, usually on my bed.
I am wondering if I should confine her for a couple of days, to break this cycle. I know these are hunting cats, and whether this is why she is out more than in at this time of year? Is this the hunting season, though? Or, is there one for Maine coons?
Behaviour is out of character which is why I am concerned. Any and all feedback would be appreciated.Last edited by suedonym; 12th December 2015 at 04:55 PM. Reason: typo
