Worried for Darcy
She has dry food out all day but we give her wet food at night which is what her previous owner does. When she gets the wet food she wolfs it down really fast. The past two nights she's thrown up immediately after eating it. Should I worry about this or is it because she's eating it so fast. She's not thrown up any other times and seems perfectly healthy and lovable.

She is probably eating it so quick because it is so much nicer than dry food. If I were you I would give her more wet food and less dry - maybe give her wet food in the morning and the evening and just leave biscuits down during the day.
When she starts to eat the wet food, sit with her and stroke her to discourage her from eating it so fast or split it so that you give her a small amount at a time and then add more when she finishes the first bit.
You can also try putting the wet food onto a big plate and spread it out more over the surface so that she can't possibly eat it as quickly as she has to move about the plate for it.
Hope this helps

My coon does the same once in a while...
He wolfs down his food and a few minutes later he throws it back up.
Usually, it happens with dry food though, he doesn't chew it properly..greedy cat!
Now, i feed him smaller portions, but more frequently and that has helped.
I wouldn't worry right now, but if he continues to throw up, you might want to see a vet.
Regards

Woodside's advice seems right on. My mother in law's cat does exactly the same thing. She feeds him meat only once a day and he is so excited that he wolfs it down and then very frequently throws it up. We keep trying to tell her that she needs to give him smaller servings of meat more frequently, but she is set in her ways. Our cats have dry out all the time but are given meat when they beg for it, which ends up being maybe four times per day. They are no longer excited by getting the meat, and often eat only small amount.
In our experience, some cats do have a tendency to overeat and throw up. We have found that both of our young males do this on occasion. When they throw up you just cannot believe how much they have stuffed in themselves. It is most typical that there be some dry food involved, as it tends to expand in their stomachs when it gets wet. So they eat a bunch of dry food and then guzzle water, the food expands in their stomachs, they are jumping around playing, and suddenly out it all comes!
As long as Darcy acts fine afterwords, is eating her dry food normally (not throwing it up), I would not worry. If she were to throw up and then look like she feels horrible, and not eat or drink, then I would worry.

My wife adds that she thinks what happens is the cats have eaten dry food and are full, but then they are so excited about the meat that they eat again when you put that down, so they end up overstuffing themselves (particularly when the dry food starts expanding).
