    Post Known medical conditions

Maine Coons are generally healthy and have few health problems because they are bred as working cats. However some are prone to hip dysplasia, which can produce lameness in a severely affected cat, and cardiomyopathy, which can produce anything from a minor heart murmur to severe heart trouble.

Any reputable breeder should be willing to discuss whether they have had any problems with these diseases in their breeding stock, or in kittens they have produced. But like with any pets it's always advisable to take them for an annual check from the age of about 8 or 9.
