    Shedding

Oh bless her,she looks as if she knows her coat is not quite as flowing as it should be,just love the darker hair above the top lip, makes her look quite fierce.
May she soon be in full bloom again.....

I do think she is a little bit shy without her plumage!!!!

A lot of people laugh at her "lipstick" but I love it. Mind you the lower lip used to be more noticable but has changed as she has grown some pale hair there now

Here is the lipstick when she was 11 months

I know this is a VERY old thread, but wanted to add we have had a similar problem with Ella, albeit over a couple of months, not a week. She used to have a massive coat and huge ruff, but at the moment looks like the straggliest maine coon ever. It hasn't helped that she has had a growth spurt too, so she has gone from being a short bodied fluff monster to a leggy almost 'semi' long haired cat and worse, her ruff has totally disappeared. There is still a very good condition short coat over her neck, but she looks very odd and turkey necked for now. It is just starting to grow whispier long bits again so hopefully it will return to full glory over the next few months or when the cold weather returns. She is still eating, drinking, toileting and growing and full of life, so not unduly concerned, but a forum search found this thread so thought I would add our experience. When we were researching maine coons we found out that every coonie can moult at different times and different amounts, so it wasn't a total surprise, but I think she is feeling a little self conscious now we have two more that are in full glory coats at the moment
