    Sneezing

My 2 year old Maine Coon has been sneezing for a couple weeks and now he has a runing nose.
All vets say they don't know what could be causing this because his lungs are clear. They say it may be allergy to something, but he has had fever too. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me?

    Hi there
Our new kitten started sneezing after having his booster and eventually ended up with very runny, gungy eyes. We think he has had a mild case of cat flu with secondary bacterial infection and has been much better since being put on doxycylin antibiotic and fucithalmic eye drops. Don't panic if you think he may have flu- an adult cat should fight it off fine and with antibiotics to treat the secondary infection he will be fine. Vaccinated cats can still get flu but it is usually really mild.
Is there anything new in your house which might have caused an allergy- new litter or anything like that?

No, there is nothing new around despite a weather change. That might be it. I am glad to see someone else has been through it. Thank you so much!

Could well be the weather. Just keep an eye on him to make sure he is still eating/drinking- that's the most important thing. We were never too worried about Dudley because his appetite was still great. He's still sneezing a week on but improving every day and is playing like a kitten should. Hope your cat feels better soon.
