Can I ask if anyone trims the fur on the bottom of their cats feet? We have tiled floors in the kitchen and hall and Mufasa slides all over the place when he is running. He has also slid off the window sill's a couple of time recently. The rescue owner told me that she trims the fur on the bottom of the cats feet to stop this. Is this a good idea?
I wouldn't dream of doing it & in fact I don't know that it would actually make that much difference,two of mine have got no snowshoes & they slip & slide on the wood floor equally as much as the others,those types of floors are natural skid pans....
As for coming off the windowsill I think that is a MC trait anyway,some of them are so ungainly & have no natural finesse that you just wait for it,wince when it happens & approach with caution & fingers crossed hoping that they haven't hurt themselves,have only had one knock his head & wind himself the once,rest of the time they bounce back & do it again,why should they make living with a MC all nice fun & cuddles...?
My two have toe tufts, Freyja far more than Wicca and of the two, it's Wicca who skids all over the kitchen floor, so I'd agree with Jackie - not sure that you'd get much benefit from it. It's never occurred to me to trim their feet, and both have such sensitive back feet I think I'd be on the losing team if I tried!
If it doesn't help, I shall leave them well alone then! I just had great fun imagining Teddy Bearz ice skating lol!!
:LOL: Dudley was playing 'ice hockey' with a piece of brocolli on our kitchen floor last night!! I agree that MCs do seem to be a bit clumsy- Dudley and Sylvester are always falling off things... usually because they are relaxing with their bellies on show and slip of the side of things. Sylvester seems to get his claws stuck in things too and is often not that graceful when he's trying to detach himself!!Quote:
