Hi, so glad to hear it's all behind you (and Dudley) now. Isn't it amazing how quickly they're back to normal? El Monto was climbing the cat tree the same evening too.

Yes, the boys recover really quickly from this op. When I got our lads home, Larry was bouncing off the walls with joy and Monty was fine but very displeased with me. He didn't forgive me until the next morning!

Yes I think Dudley was a bit crazy with the anaesthesia! It looked like he was hallucinating at points!!

We've hit a problem today it seems- Dudley keeps licking himself down there and my partner has just rung to tell me that Dudley is now dragging his backside on the floor!! I've told him to ring the vet to check everything is ok but I hope he isn't messing up his stitches.

Poor Dudley... I hope he'll be OK.
In Holland they don't get stitches either. Our vet has told us how he'd closed the wound but I've forgotten what it was.

    getting the chop

Never heard of male cats having stitches either if everything went ok,would think it is just irritation from the "very" small wound healing or could have nothing to do with his op at all & he could have a slight problem with his anal glands.

Hey there. Had a look and all looks ok- I can't really see the incision to be honest. Yes I had heard that often they don't need stitches- that explains why I can't see any! Doh! Wonder if they use tissue glue?
Eww- I hope it's not blocked anal glands, the descriptions of folks clearing them sound rank!!!!

    getting the chop

If he hasn't bothered anymore most probaly he just suddenly felt a bit of irritation where the healing is going on,anal gland problems produce a most horrible fishy pungent smell so if everything is sweet then no worries, not them.
The incision is so tiny with boys, even the larger ones that you most probaly would have trouble getting any stitches in,would be classed as micro surgery, the way our vets do them is to squeeze the testicle through the incision & pull the tube, clamp it off near the scrotum & cut, when you remove the clamp the tube is sealed & as it was stretched it just disappears back in through the incision, all neat & tidy, job done, the only difference with the older bigger boys is that you tie off around the tube instead of just clamping, four second longer op.....
Just a thought, did they not put on your post op sheet that there was no sutures & point that out when they handed him back over to you or were you like a lot of worried mums,so pleased to see your baby that you didn't listen. We never let the owners anywhere near their offf spring now until we have been through everything & make sure it is taken on board, when our vets started doing under skin suturing on all the spays we would bring the animal out,go through the post op sheet, explain they wouldn't see any sutures because of how it had been done & that was to stop the animals getting them out,off the owners would go & a little while later panic phone call, just got home & my dog has got all her stitches out on the way home, arrrgh, patience, explain again, now keeping them seperate we find people are listening to what you are telling them instead of all the "My poor baby"what have they done to you, that comes a bit later. The joys of work......

    The chop.... today's the day

    Hi all,
took Vier-Zehn and Popcorn to the vet this morning for the chop..... About time at 9.5 months..... Thank God they didn't spray but they left their marks in their litter boxes a gazillion times a day, were absolutely restless at night (their songs ringing in my ears and keeping me awake) and lately started humping everything (including each other)....
Now I am anxiously waiting to pick them up in about an hour...

Yeah, they're back. Poppy is almost back to normal, though when he walks he reminds me of John Wayne.... Vier-Zehn is hit a bit harder, still very wobbly on his feet and he seems to be mad with me....
