Today was Walter's Big Day for the Chop.
He went in this morning and I got him about five hours later. On the way home, I had to let him out of the carrier, he made it clear he was tired of being confined. When we got home, he would have no part of settling down -- he had to wander (I'd have used strikethrough, but couldn't find that option) stagger all over, checking things out, poor guy.
He's been sprawled out in my lap for the last hour or so. The post-op directions say 'strictly confined to a small area for 7-10 days. No running or jumping should be permitted.' (I suspect that was written by an attorney who didn't own cats!)
I'm hoping for a nice quiet evening with my lad tonight.

I agree we have the same instructions on our post op sheet but we tell boy cat owners that the main thing is to keep them in for the first 24hrs because of the risks that come with the anaesthetic, although that doesn't apply to most of us because we keep them under lock & key anyway & even the females as our vets do sub cut suturing we say after 48hrs let them out for a while as well,I think the sheet applies more to dogs so have yet to work out why we can't have a special feline one.
Hope you got your nice quiet evening with Walter, but I won't hold my breath....x

Good thing. It wasn't as bad as some evenings, but it was far from quiet.
Walter wasn't vocal, but his actions made clear he was looking for food, poor guy.
I wonder if the fasting was the reason he had only gained a few ounces since he was weighed about three weeks ago.
I'm glad that is behind us. My daughter who works at the veterinarian's office (and assisted during Walter's surgery) is telling me I should put a collar on him lest he infect the wound by licking at it. Should I really be that concerned? (I've seen him licking a few times, but not much.)
