I'm liking the look of the Sturdibag Peter, although might have to wait a bit as only just ordered their new cat tree!
I have, however, found the ultimate answer to all our problems. Save the money on expensive cat carriers, lessen the worry of them growing out of everything we buy, simply invest in a satnav or download some Googlemaps and send them on their own way ...

Pomeroy travels in a 25" x 15" x 15" carrier and is quite comfy in that. The 3 kittens DID travel in an 18" x 12" x 12" carrier untill yesterday!
Tilly has a vets appointment today and last night I got the carrier out ready. Tilly sat next to it and we both gasped "no way", she dwarfs it! Raggles squeezed himself into it, but we could see that either of them would not be comfy in it even on a short trip.
Quick trip to the pet supplies and now we have another 25" carrier! The 18" will be OK for Tia for another few months then it will go into storage.

I looked again and realised that with the divider down the XL Sturdi bag is 12"x 40" - so should be enough any one or even two of the boys once they grow, and should certainly be OK for initial group visits to the vet. I will look at the cheaper collapsible options before making a final decision, but that is one of the main requirements.
I've got a few weeks to decide - I have ordered the cat tree since that takes 4 weeks to build - but everything else is pretty much same week delivery. I checked with "petcarriers.co.uk" who stock the Sturdi range and the guy listed the colours they had in stock for the XL, so the "up to 8 weeks" comment is only for out of stock stuff from the US I guess.

You know I've been looking at the Sturdibags in more detail and on closer inspection, they're not quite as big as you'd think. Even the extra large divided is only 20”L x 16”H x 12”W.
I do like the 'Tested on Animals' ones that Karen posted and am very tempted.
I have, however, just found these on Argos which look fab and, although out of stock at the moment, well within my price range! I also like the fact that they have the top opening too so much easier to drop kitty in rather than pushing them in against their will.
The medium one, at 24"L x 16"H x 16"W is already bigger than the Sturdibag Extra Large and is currently only £24.69 - bargain!

and their large one comes in at 27.5"L x 21"W x 20"H.

They also do a giant one but that's getting on for bigger than the inside of my car!
I've registered for them to email me when they come back in stock and will be placing an order then - hope it's soon

I have ordered one of these: [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003ZNNCOA/ref=ox_ya_os_product"]PetGear by Happy Pet Canvas Carrier X-Large: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31gOAJ78aIL.@@AMEPARAM@@31gOAJ78aIL[/ame]
The XLarge is £30, which is less than 1/2 of the same product anywhere else (most places was over £60). Since it's Amazon themselves and not a marketplace seller I "trust" the description and chance of returns more
Also, read review(s) of no-name items and it seemed that the Petgear ones are metal/steel framed, the cheaper ones are crappy plastic.
This should do for all three "kittens" for the first few months and then I can always get more of the same if it's built well.

Cat Carrier
At the weekend I will get my canvas carrier out, mine is metal frame like the one from Amazon, leave it in the hall & see if I can get a picture of either of the biggest two cats in it so you can get an idea of the room available inside. When we come back from shows Merlyn will normally wander in & use it for a bedroom,I think he says to the other two boys that it was his show carrier first but when it just "appears"they all tend to hide up "just in case"it is a vets visit, not silly are they ? Shimba has just had to go to work for a few days running , he had ripped a claw completely out & all down one toe was a gaping big hole, must have done it out in the pen, don't know how or exactly where but it was badly swollen & very sore so when dad has been bringing in the white wire carrier we have had to play the game of finding the required cat, didn't know we had so many hiding places in one room but it has made them all a bit jumpy at the moment, will give it a go though...
