Smile Badsworth Tabloid Junkie ( MJ)

The decision is made, MJ has found a new home.

On Sunday Caroline drove 3 hours and spent 2 hours playing and talking to MJ, he liked her she liked him.

She will come back for him in 2 weeks when she has time to devote to settling him in with out further commitments getting in the way Caroline already has a 4 year old rescued Mainecoon neuter who she got when he was a year old. he is a magnificent brown tabby.
For those who have followed the story and ask them selves why we do not get rid of the bully Mr Baggins, the answer is simple Baggins is a 7 years old boy who is easy going and loving, after a discussion with my vet we think this is the issue. MJ went with Baggins and Lestat to be neutered, MJ could not be neutered because he had a mouth infection, he was done 3 weeks later.

Frodo Baggins has always been top cat as an entire he never fought with the other cats they just knew it. MJ must have though I am the entire one now I am top cat Frodo just did what comes natural and put the young kit in his place. I do not know, I do not speak cat, but thats what we think happened. End of the day I have to do what is best for the cats and us, all my cats know their names and come running when they are shouted. I am sick and fed up of going in search of them to oust them out of cupboards or on top of freezers where they have gone to hide when the fighting starts... and picking up huge lumps of MJ's fur from all over the house, hence I made the decision. Sentimentality can not come in to it, you have to do what best for the cats, all of them.

I have enclosed some photos of MJ and Mr Baggins showing hopefully lol what a sweetie he really is...

I am so sorry that it has come to this but admire you for the reasons you are doing it,most probaly you are right in the leader of the pack issue it is just weird how they all seem to differ when taking on that role, here in my pack while Merl was TC he bullied & hissed which in turn was making the others hiss & jumpy,he would also front up for fisticuffs but with Shims TC all is done with a look & life is a lot quieter. When we have illness or now a loss within them we have noticed that Shims steps back & becomes subservant to them all & Merl winds up with I am back you do things my way, bully, bully & I just pray for Shims to step forward again,he does eventually, like you don't really understand the reasoning of it,what makes him back down & what makes him decide to step back up to the mark again but he soon puts Merlyn back under by chasing him like hell down the hall, getting him in a corner & just sitting glaring at him, when Merls eyes drop Shimba just walks away position back & peace all round, weird.
How great that MJ got on with Caroline & the other way round{who could not luv him though}& to think he has also got a MC pal as well, all sounds perfect & no doubt you will get lots & lots of updates so you can let us know how he is getting on,thanks for posting more pictures of them both, will think of you on that sad day but it sure shows the depth of luv for your cats, bless x

It will be indeed sad, and thanks for your kind words, it works I feel very differently with the girls, I have one British line, that is dominant over every cat. Grandmother was boss then gave that responsibility to her daughter and now she to her daughter and I am sure it will move down again., the girls just seem to know and there is no question of a challenge, the abyssinians do push their luck but thats just Abys for you... the Coonies Aphrodite is the boss, again they seem to know this and there is no discussion.. lol

I am more than Sure Caroline will keep in touch with us and let us know how it all pans out and she is aware that I will take him back if it doesn't. So we shall just have to wait and see.

Lestat has also found a new home he goes at the weekend, this was a different kind of bullying Lestat can also be aggressive and so it was like gladiators with him and Frodo.. Hopefully in 2 weeks time peace and serenity will be restored here again. If it had been summer I may have tried to pen them both together MJ and Frodo and watched and waited but it isn't and we have taken down most of our outdoor pens for the new work that will be taking place this year fingers crossed, so I need the 2 spare pens I have for my boys to use for their dating time.

We shall see, I hope I do not kick my self later lol xx

You will never know "what might have happened"so will not have to kick yourself Debbie, the fact that you will have MJ back if there is a problem takes all pressure off of the new owner,no what ifs to worry about so it is sure to work, it will all be for some reason unknown to you at this moment in time, hope I am still on here to find out why...

Dear Debbie, it is a difficult decision but it has to be made in the end. You can only give them so much time to see if they can 'sort it out' between themselves, but sometimes they never really settle down and the hostility continues. This must be very stressful for you and all the other crew members. You have done the very best you could and this sounds like an ideal solution for everyone. Plus you will be able to keep in touch with the new owner, which is great. I have been through this myself with a rescue cat and 4 months down the line everyone is very happy - our remaining 3 lads get along just great, and Humphrey is fat and happy as the only cat in his new home, with a doting lady owner. I went to visit at New Year and Humph gave me lots and lots of sniffs and licks. He looked amazing and had a bed by the window and a big pile of toys. It brought a tear to my eye.

So do be assured...I am certain you are doing the right thing. Bon courage!

Thank you, it won't feel like it when we say goodbye, but I am sure he will have a fantastic home with her new owner and new one day best friend x

Debbie, so sorry to hear it's not worked but it's not been for the want of trying on your part. I agree with the girls - a horrible decision to make, but you're right, being sentimental would just make the cats (and their servants) more unhappy. And even for MJ and Baggins, it must be hugely stressful with each of them trying to assert and re-assert themselves constantly. At least you can keep in touch with MJ and it will give you the same feel-good factor HB gets when she sees Humph now x
