Maisie reigns alone here. It seems most of you have at least two. I would love to have another cat but the reason Maisie came here was that she disliked other cats. I think though that if it was possible for me to have a second that I would get a rescue puss ;there are so many looking for homes
We only have one Maine Coon, but we do have a 6 month old Moggy and a Bengal Kitten who will be coming home when he's old enough. Darcy (the MC) gets alone very well with other pets as long as we introduce them slowly and carefully. And she likes the kittens until they try to play with her LOL
I've only got one, but believe me she's enough of a handful! I'd love to have two, but I don't think there's a) enough space on my bed - and it's a super kingsize! and b) I'm not sure I could cope with being tripped up by two dedicated followers of me :)
Yes we just have one, but I am at home all day and he has the girls to 'play with' in the evenings and weekends! He seems very happy and content though.
We serve two MC's now - was only supposed to be one, but a) they're such an addictive breed that we both wanted a second one and b) we hated the idea of Freyja being lonely during the day as we're both out to work. Best thing we ever did was to get a second one, although it took a very stressful 3 weeks of hissing, growling and sulking before we came to that conclusion as Freyja did NOT like sharing the attention (or the whiskas) with Wicca to begin with. I suspect in reality, whilst Freyja is clearly very fond of Wicca, she would just as easily be a one-cat household so we'll stick with just two. If you know Maisie has a history of not getting on with other cats, it might (sadly) be best to steer clear; we had to seriously contemplate the prospect of taking Wicca back due to Freyja's reaction and it would have been heart breaking as she'd got her little paws round both our hearts within a few hours. And seeing Freyja so unhappy was really hard too, so my advice is to think really carefully before you do anything.:smile:
I also have just one MC, my second. We have three moggies in the house, so there is plenty of companionship.
I was planning to get just one, but the breeder told me that my future kitty had a sister, and they are big "buddies"; he offered a discount on a second kitten.
At first I declined, but in 1 week changed my mind with some fears that I may be overwhelmed by two of them. I am so glad I got two! They have quite different personalities but really care about each other( the "buddies" idea was not a seller's trick)
One of the arguments the breeder used was that most of his kittens when sold in pairs to couples, agree between themselves who they want to bond with, husband or wife.
My husband and I were watching them through their "toddlers" stage trying to determine
"who is going to be My cat" Anastasia (smokey-blue with color points) bonded with me, and blond bombshell Ariella with my husband. At night they switch places and for unknown reasons Ariella sleeps next to me, while Anastasia is snoring next to my husband. Yes, we have California King bed but often feel squished when cats decide to stretch across the bed.:rofl::rofl:
How true Halcyon. We also only planned to get one MC kitten, as we had 2 moggies at the time. But while at the breeder's I fell for Larry's brother, a gorgeous black smoke baby, and couldn't get him out of my mind even though Larry was wonderful. Unfortunately Monty was reserved by someone else, but then luckily for us it fell through. So we ended up with the two of them, and they are the best of mates. Monty is very much 'my' cat, (in fact he's a proper mummy's boy) and the OH is head-over-heels into Larry. But they are both affectionate with both of us.
Our breeder said to us on our first meeting, most people who have one kitten come back for another one at some stage. For us, it was one week later! Is this a record??
Nope. No record. Well, yes maybe. I went to visit "my" litter, picked the two boys but played with and took photos of them all. I got home, (this is a Saturday evening) looked at the photos, saw a little angel face staring at me and phoned back on Sunday to take Bertie too. So, from 2 to 3 in 24 hours...Quote:

I found him a little moggy friend to keep him company as i am away at work during the day and i'm so glad i did, as they're the best of friends, always getting up to mischief together :rofl:
