New kitten
Hi all, some photos of the new kitten as well as some questions... I have had him for 2 days now, and every day I notice little clumps of sleep (or whatever you call it?) on his eyes. I have watched him clean it off himself but most of the time I do it for him, does this sound normal? He seems very happy and healthy but is very skinny and boney, is this normal for kittens? His appetite seems fine and he drinks plenty. Photos below!

Hi, I haven't got any experience with Maine coons yet, I pick my fella up on Sunday but my experience with my Bengal and savannah and also kittens in the past is the fact they are a bit skinny shouldn't be too much too worry about, they'll grow into their skin but I'm sure you'll be registering him at your vets so they'll be able to advise once he's weighed. As for the sleep again normal for a young one, we just used the old fashioned cold used teabag to clean, not sure of the merits of this but it's what my mum always used on her kitts.

New Kitten
Now he is a very good example of ears with a cat attached, they are going to take some growing into.
Don't worry about crusty sleepies in the eyes thats natural.
He also looks very tall & lean in his photos so would think he might have already had one of the famous MC growth spurts,he should now fill out a bit before he gets another. If you got him from a recommended MC breeder you should be happy enough that he has had the right start in life & all his worming program would have been up to date at the point of you bringing him home.
Look forward to more photos of him, enjoy & have fun....!

He is a good looking boy!
Our one girl always has dried "sleep" under her one eye which I gently remove most days. It does not seem to bother her, so I am not too worried at the moment.

Oh wow ...those ears are amazing, beautiful kittie

What a cutie, thats going to be one big MC when those ears have been grown into:LOL:

He is gorgeous.
I wouldn't worry about him feeling a bit on the slender side - most kittens are until they go to their new homes and don't have to share the food!
As for the sleep, this is totally normal too. As long as his eyes look healthy and not sore at all then it is just a normal discharge.

OK, was the bat on the mother's or the father's side ?
Lovely kittie, have loads of fun together.
PS Two of mine get sleep in eyes and I just wipe it away regularly. Vet said it's fine.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Tango gets sleep in his eyes sometimes, he eats like a horse but feels a little bony but Im sure he will fatten up  he's very long & tall, he has'nt started the wheel barrow stage yet that Louie seemed to go through for ages

teehee, he's gonna be a 'biggun' once he grows into those ears! Our Monty was a right scrawny little thing when we first got him, but he's onto about his 4th growth spurt and is now taking over his sister in the size stakes!
The 'bed' in their eyes is a common occurrence in this household too.
Have fun with your little one!
