My New Kitten!

I don't want to clutter up other people's threads too much by yacking about Teddy so I thought I'd use this thread to talk about him and if anyone else wants to read it, that's great! But if not I'll probably just yack on anyway... :LOL:

Since we managed to correctly determine which kitty he was, we now have some recent photos of him which we know for sure are him (he has a brother who looks very, very similar and we liked Teddy more for his personality than his looks so it was hard to tell from pictures!!)

So here he is, aged around 7 weeks :)

Thought the same as Candes that Teddy Bearz had got clever & started his own thread off,doesn't take much to confuse this OAP.
So pleased that you got sorted which lad was yours,he looks as if he could be another one of those with kitten attatched to ears,one of my favourite colours as well,look forward along with the others to plenty of updates,photos & a lot more "yacking"....x

We have had Hector and Roxy a year this week, but I need to wait for Freddie to be older for my next MC.

Isn't he delicious, I sort of mentioned to my husband that it might be nice to get another pair at some point, just to go through the whole choosing and anticipation stage. Didn't go down to well though!

I LOVE this forum! Lol! You guys and your kitty-loving ways are awesome! It's a good outlet for me - stops me from harassing my friends - they're all super excited about Teddy's arrival too but you know...they have lives too!!

I can't wait to see him again next Thursday so I'll have more photos then :)

Our breeder is brilliant - she tells us little stories about him all the time. You can really tell she spends a lot of time with them. Apparently yesterday he was teaching his other furry friends some sort of bunny hop style dance!

Haha! Sorry but there appears to be a Teddy Jnr in town these days! Good name choice though ;) we're going to have to differentiate! Although do you normally call him Teddy or Teddy Bearz? Ours is just Teddy or Ted or Tedster and various variations! My favourite so far is :

They're different looking too so it shouldn't be too difficult :)

I've got my exam timetable now so we know Teddy should be arriving with us around the 20th or 21st of May...may the count down begin!

Any tips on coping with the wait?!

Can we please move on by keeping on topic!

Now I do believe this thread is about Stacey's new kitten.......so my advise is to do a Spring clean and take a short break if you can, because once kitty arrives you will have to plan holidays very carefully from now on :smile:

We're moving just before the kitten arrives so the place should be all nice :) (I'm a bit of a cleaning nut when I move into a new flat!) and we have exams just before so no holidays for us! We rarely go away anyway - there's so much to do here in Glasgow :)

Never been to Glasgow but would love to go! Are you going to get updates and photos from the breeder? You could always use the time to try to grow extra layers of skin - if your little boy is anything like mine his greatest pleasure will be, trying to climb as far as possible up your legs,arms, or back before the screams of pain drive him back down! Noah's latest trick is launching himself at my shoulder from the coffee table when my back is turned and clinging on for dear life to whichever bit of my anatomy he has landed on whilst I try painfully to dislodge him without hurting him - no easy feat!

Well if you ever fancy a kitten meet up - let me know! I'm sure your two could show Teddy a thing or two! (How're they doing today after their procedures?)

The breeder is being great at giving us updates and so on - I really can't complain. We're going to see him next week too but I fear that'll make me want to bring him home even more!

I know what you mean about the jumping - when we visited the first time there was an older litter of kittens who were ready to go to their new homes - one 'little' guy (he was huge!) jumped all the way up to my thigh and left holes in my leggings! He was cute though, so I let him off with it!

We're going to see Teddy on Thursday....can.not.wait!!!

We're flat hunting at the moment - I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on whether we should go for something more open plan or with more confined rooms? He'll have access to all of them apart from the bathroom (unless Dave wins out on the litter kwitter!) so I'm not sure it matters much? My breeder says more smaller rooms is useful because it would give him more variety.

I like the idea of having the option of another room to use but am also lucky that the sitting & dining room are open plan so furries have plenty of running space,I would say its whichever one you walk into & think yes this is home because if you are happy there babe is going to be too....

So we're just back from our visit :)

Teddy has tripled in size since we last saw him! All the kittens are such little characters! They were a bit sleepy because they'd just had their lunch and were napping but Teddy stayed awake for a while to play with us - we got some pictures (I'll try and add some :) ).

I just can't wait to bring him home now...we're even considering moving sooner just because we don't want to wait! He's nine weeks now so technically can leave the breeder in a month-ish - I don't think she wants any of them to leave though! There were a couple of lovely older girls, one who's still waiting for a home which is sad! I hope she finds one soon!

Oh I've been informed that he's a little scamp - particularly if there's food involved!

I think the ears are hilarious - all the kittens have massive ears. When we went the first time there were some 13 week old kittens who had huge ears too but this time we saw them again and they seem to have grown into them a bit more!

Oh and...NEWS FLASH!!!!

I know a lot of you have been saying 'you should have another' and so on - that was our original plan but it changed because Dave wasn't so sure. Yesterday when Teddy was asleep the little silver and white boy we'd loved initially in the photos came over to play and Dave played with him for ages. The breeder said that it was amazing that no one had reserved him yet (he is SO adorable - I'll try and find a photo!). Apparently a couple were interested but due to circumstances couldn't take him any more. Another couple are coming on Monday to have a look - I'm not sure if it's him in particular they're interested in, there's still a little red boy who's available and several girls (four, I think). Anyway, I'd been saying all the way home how it would be lovely to have a friend for Teddy and how cute the grey one was. Dave didn't cotton on that I was talking about the little guy he'd been playing with until about 1am last night when he exclaimed 'WHAT? You mean he's NOT been reserved?'. This was followed by a LONG conversation with a discussion of the pros and cons. Basically what we're saying now is that our main concern is that we're worried we won't be able to find a landlord which will allow two cats...

ARGH. At the moment I'm not getting my hopes up because chances are that he'll be reserved before we've found a flat which will accept two kits. We've already given him a name...*cringe* I think someone on here has a cat of the same name so I'd like to point out that I'm not copying anyone and that it was a second choice name for Teddy when we were first discussing names.

I know you're all going to tell us to go for it so I needn't ask for advice! Unless any of you know of a cat friendly land lord in the west end of Glasgow? Haha!!

Don't know anyone in that area but fingers crossed for you all that you can soon find somewhere that allows TWO furry babes,it would be great for Teddy to have a friend of his own as well as his two legged slaves....

I haven't mentioned to the breeder yet that we're interested but don't think I should say anything in case we end up being disappointed!

Argh! Dave's sister came round today and quizzed us about Teddy - she was SO rude. She kept calling him a 'thing' and complaining about how difficult he's going to make our lives and how horrible cats are. I'm SO angry! That's really rude, regardless of your opinion on things there's a point where you keep your thoughts to yourself!...any one else have to deal with this?

Oh Stacey that's horrible. I would guess that everyone on here has, at some time, come across someone like Dave's sister. I wouldn't take it to heart, I would feel sorry for her, so much she is missing out on. The Tedster is beautiful by the way and I am so excited for you, do love the reds !!! Alison x

Thanks Alison! I was just so angry/upset! Some of our friends don't exactly approve (most think it's lovely) but none of them have been horrible, they've just said they don't think it's a good idea. I suppose it's because we're 'young' but I don't think she realises that we've been planning this since September! I think reds are my favourite but I like silvers and creams too :smile:

As a single man with only a limited amount family in the UK I get to choose my friends and my friends like cats (not just mine!) or they aren't my friends. It's actually one of the few "core values" that I don't budge on. They don't have to love them or have their own, but anyone who has a problem doesn't get a look in. Generally, these sad failures dislike all animals, not just cats and have empathy problems.

Sadly, you aren't in that space. However, try not to take it too hard as what's really important is that you and Dave will be happy with Teddy (and maybe his tabby brother? hmm? :) )

We can't choose our family, but it doesn't mean we have to be intimidated or insulted by them. Good luck!

We hardly ever see her and I already don't like her attitude - I'm more upset about the fact she's going to run to Dave's mum and make out that we're adopting some little terror 'thing'.

My friends know that if they're going to be horrible about Ted - they're not welcome in my flat :P People have been slagging his name and I've told them if they don't stop it they're banned from visiting!

She sounds like a sad,lonely jealous person who needs to get a life & agree with others before me,don't let her worry you.It is yours & Daves life that is important & your descion who or what is included in it,luckily for a certain red boy it includes him.She will have two choices won't she,luv em or stay away, MC's do seem to have a way of winning people round though but if she is that rude perhaps you wouldn't want that any way.....x

Invite Daves mum round to see him soon after he is settled in,she will soon realise that he is a nice little terror & if you have to ban all your friend because they are aslo not nice then you will have to put an invite on the forum & we will all pile round....!
