Infection and swollen lymph nodes :-(
Have taken my boys to the vets this morning to be neutered and have just had a call from the vets to tell me that both have an infection, fever and swollen lymph nodes :sad2: So they can not carry out the operation. The vet is going to put them on antibiotics and give Dodge some paste to sort his diorehha out, (Dizzy doesn't suffer from any). And then collect a faecal sample from Dodge and get that tested.....
Both are house cats, and both were collected at 3months old, with vaccinations and vet checked. Vet reckons they could have picked up an infection from anywhere, i.e from your shoes, a stranger, a plant etc
Am really worried that they have that horrible virus that everyone talks about on here, cant remember the full name, begins with a T.
There is a house plant (devils ivy) that i have but they dont bother with, but im going to move that completely now, incase they have ingested it.
Am so sad that they are ill, my poor babies :sad1:
Infection & swollen lymph nodes
It is great the vets picked up on it because to have been given an anaesthetic on top could have made them quite poorly,we always do a pre op check on cats with the owners there before their ops so if a problem they can be taken straight home, not good really to have an animal that is possibly infectious through with others that are being operated on.Do not worry too much,a lot of the cats that get sent home from us are like our babes have not been allowed out,how do any of us pick up infections,a lot can be airbourne, with the tritchomonous that has been talked about on here the cats have had quite violent diarrhoea over a long period but good that your vet is going to look into things anyway but would just about lay a bet on that the paste will sort him out anyway, the hardest thing is going to be you having to cope with the starvation of the babes & the bubbly tummy that you get when its time for them to go back for the ops once more.
Also a good idea to remove any plants that can harm even if you don't think they bother with it,you just never know when it could happen but in this case for both of them to have temps & swollen glands it 99% has to be infection, cuddles & kisses to them both as they lay on their sick bed with a worried parent hovering around them....x
