Winston slept independently for the first time last night!

Our 14 week old kitten had been sleeping in our bedroom since his arrival 10 days ago.
It was his own choice and it didn't bother us.....so last night just before midnight as I got ready to head to bed , I looked at him on his cat tree and asked "are you coming?" but he gave me this look as to say "nah I'm all grown up now and I prefer to stay on my cat tree". Great!!!!!!!
Well he did sleep on his cat tree all night but at 6.30 a.m, I was woken by him coming into the room and jumping up on our bed. He didn't rest until I got up to give him his breakfast...........he's teaching us very quickly :laugh:

That sounds so familiar! But glad to hear he's feeling at home!!

Haha, thats so cute! First night with Hank, he cried all night downstairs but didnt want to come upstairs so I had to sleep with him on the settee.

But now, he's OK sleeping in his cat tree and he loves it! We dont hear a peep from him all night, he wakes up at about 6.30 and sometimes comes in our bedroom and jumps on the bed purring away rubbing himself against our heads.

Glad both of our kittys are adjusting, makes me feel a lot better knowing he's happy and settled!

Arghg! Sounds like Im doing it backwards!

First seven nights - not a problem. They found a spot in the house they could hide away in & feel secure. Both Storvenn and Loki appeared to sleep very well. I must admit I slept downstairs for the first 3 or 4 nights though. Coonies seemed fine, it was me that was more worried about them...

Last night - They followed me up to bed. As soon as I was under the covers it was 'make him move a bit - then pounce on whatever seems to move under the duvet'. Making me move involved randomly jumping on me wether I moved or not, or in the extreme case... Storvenn launched himself on my head whilst I was trying to sleep!
I must admit I gave up in the end and we played 'bite the moving duvet' for a while. :)

At 6:30am I woke up to find Storvenn and Loki occupying one side of the bed and myself on the other. My wife didnt want to wake them up so slept downstairs!

Lol. How cute! Well, probably not so cute when you're trying to sleep! I dont think my husband would mind Hank sleeping on our bed, but I had to put my foot down and say, it's OK now that he's small, imagine when he's full grown cat trying to sleep between us!

So far, were doing well and he seems to like to have the run of the house when were upstairs because he can sleep on the big sofa with comfy cushions and his cat hammock if he wants to. I don't mind him jumping on us in the morning as were used to it with our own kids. Lol. :laugh:

I guess it's harder for you Tomiam as you have 2 coonies encouraging each other! :AddEmoticons0091:

Ha! Ha! that sounds just like our little fella. He appeared in our room this morning at 6.30 and proceeded to walk over our heads, play with my ponytail, and then jump around on the bed. My poor hubbie was trying to get a last few minutes of "shut-eye" before getting up for work!

Our alarm clock has been thrown out of the window at this stage. Who needs one anyway:laugh:

Ria: I have been thinking of when he gets older so hopefully by then he won't want to share a bed. I hope!!!!!!!

An alarm clock is absolutely unnecessary with cats around the house... Even in the weekends they never let us sleep in. At 7 am they want cuddles in bed, directly followed by breakfast, since they're used to this when we have to get up for work.
But look at the bright side of it: at least now you don't have to worry about being late for work cause you overslept.:geek:

This is the case with us - 6am and Lucius is awake and therefore we are. My partner used to be a terrible morning person, now he wakes up before the alarm clock (the real one, not Lucius that is!):winkwink:
