Poetry Corner
This is by Doris Lessing (but from memory, so I may have misquoted)
O cat, I'd say, or pray, be-oootiful cat!
Delicate cat, exquisite cat, satiny cat!
Cat like a soft owl, cat with paws like moths,
Delicious cat! Fabulous cat!
Cat, cat, cat, cat, cat!

I'll put Pangur ban again incase anyone missed it in my newbie thread!
It's an old irish poem written by an unknown ninth century monk about his cat.
Pangur Ban
I and Pangur Ban, my cat,
'Tis a like task we are at;
Hunting mice is his delight,
Hunting words I sit all night.
Better far than praise of men
'Tis to sit with book and pen;
Pangur bears me no ill will;
He, too, plies his simple skill.
'Tis a merry thing to see
At our task how glad are we,
When at home we sit and find
Entertainment to our mind.
Oftentimes a mouse will stray
Into the hero Pangur's way;
Oftentimes my keen thought set
Takes a meaning in its net.
'Gainst the wall he sets his eye
Full and fierce and sharp and sly;
'Gainst the wall of knowledge I
All my little wisdom try.
When a mouse darts from its den.
O how glad is Pangur then!
O what gladness do I prove
When I solve the doubts I love!
So in peace our tasks we ply,
Pangur Ban, my cat and I;
In our arts we find our bliss,
I have mine, and he has his.
Practice every day has made
Pangur perfect in his trade ;
I get wisdom day and night,
Turning Darkness into light.'

How about a sort of Limerick about our cats?
This is mine.
I have a maine coon cat called Maisie
She's big as a house
Will catch any mouse
But most of the time she's just lazy !
OK I am not applying for post as poet laureate!

Okay, are you ready for this?? OH made up a little song for Freyja and used to sing it to her several times a night. Much to our neighbours amusement... It does have a little tune but obviously I can't replicate that here - just bear in mind he's a serious football fan, so that'll give you an idea of what to expect!
"Little Frey-ja, Little Frey-ja
She is a scatty catty and we love her very much
Little Frey-ja, Little Frey-ja
She's the greatest little maine coon that the world has ever seen
Little Frey-ja, Little Frey-ja
We give her lots of love and she gives us poo and wee"
Repeat until Freyja's lost the will to live.
There was another one he wrote, to the tune of Lilly Allen's "Smile"
"Freyja's bum
Is a football goa-oa-oal
Is a football goa-oa-oal
Is a football goa-oa-oal"
This one came about because she's got such baggy pantaloons that when she's on curled up on all four paws, she gets what looks like a hovercrafts skirts around her bum, which makes it look like she's getting a Jennifer Lopez. And for some reason I can't explain, that made him think of a football goal. Go figure.
