Grubby nose question
Hi guys
We have finally got our chap and had him for about six weeks now, he's a lovely character and beautiful to look at ( red silver tabby). My question is does anybody else have trouble with grubby noses. His nose is constantly dirty with wet food from his bowl and needs cleaning up daily, he uses the same type of bowls as our Bengal and savannah but they always look clean or is it just that he has a very light colluded fac which shows it uP more? Can anybody recommend a food bowl that migh reduce the problem?
Thanks
Justin

This is quite common for MC kittens in my experience, they collect dirt/crud along the sides of their noses. Has been the case to different degrees for all the MC kittens we have had. They eventually outgrow it. With the first MC kitten we got it caused us to worry that there was something wrong with him causing it, but when we saw the same thing in the next one, we realized that it is normal (small nose slits, stick their noses everywhere, messy eating, etc.).
The other thing you will see with your red guy is crusties in the corners of his eyes periodically. This is also normal, and you have to realize that they are simply much more obvious on a red cat than one whose skin/fur around the eyes is dark.

thanks for this question-- both my young boys have this problem-- noses always dirty -- thought it was strange

They can also tend to have dirty noses while going through teething ....

Ditto, two of mine are the same. Leo is far to handsome to soil his perfect hooter ;)

Rusty as a young kitten had always a dirty nose and eyes , I even went to the vet about it but as he got older its much better and no longer one of many daily jobs :)
