I have Jones' food bowls on the floor in the kitchen and his litter box sits in the corner of the hallway which is handily right by the bathroom door.

I'm having a bit of a conundrum with this as well. I can't put them in the kitchen as the dog sleeps in there and he'll eat from probably both of them (blegh!), the bathroom doors close themselves so no use for litter tray, the hall is very narrow and I'm sure my son will end up falling over anything. Only place I can think is livingroom or our bedroom! lol

Could the food bowls go up on the kitchen counter top if you have space? Or is your dog big enough to reach up there?
Obviously you then have cats all over your countertops at feeding time, but a few germs here and there are good for the ol' immune system!

I think that's what will have to happen, not sure how well he'll do jumping up there at 13-14 weeks old though, I'm guessing he'll manage. lol! The dog wouldn't be able to reach if i put the food at the back of the worktop. I think the litter tray will have to go in the living room, although I don't like the thought of that I suppose if i keep it clean we'll be fine. Wouldn't like him to drop a load while I'm eating my supper though. haha!

I shouldn't worry about him getting to the food, if he can't make the jump he'll be sure to call for a leg up!
Can't help with the litter tray though, we've got a covered one, which does a good job of minimising the general litter tray smell, but is still ineffective against a freshly deposited poo!

Cat food placement in our kitchen is an ongoing issue here. We have a "breakfast nook" adjacent to the kitchen, which contains a table with the dry food on it, and my wife also puts the wet there. However, the cats are in the habit of getting on one of the kitchen counters, so I generally put wet there. (Oops!) We also put the wet dishes in the hallway outside of kitchen for cats to continue to nibble from for a while. In addition to kitchen dry, we also have dry food in our bedroom since the cats spend so much time there overnight, and one feeding area is simply not enough for four adult MCs in my opinion. Used to have dry downstairs also, but have removed that to keep Remy from nibbling as much of it during the day (since he needs to lose a bit of weight).
Anyway, my wife is not too pleased that the cats get onto the kitchen counter to eat as they also do it when she is trying to prepare food often, which forces her off to smaller counter. They got in the habit of getting up there, though, when we had dogs and had to have the cat food away from the dogs (the dogs are now gone, RIP). Unfortunately, after reading up on zoonotic diseases, I am a bit more concerned about having them on the kitchen counters as well. It certainly would not be appropriate if one was feeding raw, as the chance of human family members contracting something nasty could be quite significant then.
Generally I have read that cats will not like to eat right near a litterbox, and I personally would not want a litterbox in our kitchen! We have four large litterboxes distributed around the house--two upstairs and two downstairs. Unfortunately they are just too large for any of the bathrooms. We started with much smaller litterboxes (including covered ones), but the boys outgrew them (there is no way a 20+lbs male MC can use any covered litterbox I have ever seen).

I think we're planning on having everything in our kitchen. I'm not sure of exactly where but I personally want to try and keep Teddy off the work tops as we have an electric hob and I'm worried he'll end up burning his paws. There's a sort of 'private area' under one of the work tops (I think there used to be a dishwasher/dryer there so that's probably where we'll keep his tray so he can poo in private! We'll probably feed him in the living area of the kitchen which is a good distance from the bin and poo zone!

We have a litter tray under the stairs (open stairs), one in the hallway and one in the bedroom, we have food/water stations in the kitchen and bedroom. Jiminy has to be shut in the bedroom when we go out as hes so naughty he'd destroy the house if we left him out, Tabitha my somali is left to roam around the house when we're out as shes rather old and really well behaved.
