Funny eating habit suddenly started!
Hello everyone
Over the last week or so our little trouble maker Bungo (who is now 5 months!!) has decided that he won't eat unless someone stands over and watches him. Even when we do watch he easily gets distracted and you have to put him in front of his bowl and tell him to eat! Does this happen to anyone else?
I'm not overly worried but he isn't eating as much as he was previously, if we didn't stand over him he would hardly eat at all!! although he doesn't seem bothered and is growing nicely and very energetic still.
I should mention that this new habit seems to have appeared around the same time we have had to shut him downstairs at night.....he would wake us up at least 2 times a night crying, and was getting worse so it was our only option to get a decent nights sleep.
I'm going to change his food to see if thats the problem, does anyone have any other ideas or is this just how it's going to be from now?
Thanks!

I have one who has always been very easily distracted when eating & still is coming up to 4yrs of age,I very often end up wandering around with his food dish in my hand waiting for something to catch his attention long enough to be able to set it in front of him again & tell him he is a good boy & would he like to eat a bit more,a kiss or two round his ears & a couple of head butts off of him followed by saying what a clever handsome boy he is does help to get him going again for another couple of mouthfulls then we start all over again,I know for a fact when I can't stay with him his brother goes & eats it before going back to his own...!
Does seem strange that it has coincided with the bedroom ban so he could just be trying it on a bit, also sometimes if they are having a growing spurt or teething they go off their food so could tie in with something like that.
If he seems fit, healthy & growing I wouldn't worry too much,Shimba is weighing in at 10kg at the moment so his hit & miss way of eating hasn't caused him any harm & if you start changing diet too much you could end up with the runny bum syndrome, not nice...x

Never had eating problems...all cats/kittens have been strays..and glad to see a food dish, I think.
Our cats always have food available...same thing we have done with our dogs..they eat when they are hungry, and don't when they are not.
Also, we have never had gluttens, they maintain a healthier weight than we do.
