Teddy loves to lay on Dave's lap when he's playing Xbox (Dave, not Teddy...although given half the chance he'd be trying to play too!). He's also very keen to be on your lap if you're eating but I don't think that counts!

Roxy is the lapcat on our house, it's rare that Hector will get on your lap but he will come up to you normally in the kitchen and talk to you until you pick him up for a cuddle!
Roxy used to play on the Xbox/PS3 with Daddy before I 'stole' her!
I was worried how Roxy would react to Freddie as she used to spend hours on my lap but she just hops up and sort of snuggles around him when he is feeding (those photos will never be shared)!!, she also lies or sits by him if he is sleeping on the sofa, those photos I don't mind sharing. When ever she goes up to Freddie he just smiles and chuckles to her I would love to know what he is 'saying' to her but she will churp back sometimes.
We have a great video of Freddie in his door bouncer and Hector coming up to say hello.
None of mine were lap cats but in recent months Mitch (whose eight and a half) has started to half sit on my lap and Finn the youngest half sits on the other side so does that count as a whole Maine Coon on my lap?
I find Rasputin will quite often have a nap on my lap but it's very much on his terms... 90% of the times that I try and plonk him there he just ups and leaves...
Sarah sits on my lap at every opportunity - if my dlh Timmy is already there she just piles on top
Zack - has jumped up I think about 4 times only - he likes to lie on the couch next to me
Boris - jumps on my lap quite a lot but as he is a kitten his attention span is that of a gnat and off he goes again. Has slowed down since he bellyflopped into my scrambled eggs one night
Jimmy's not a lap cat at all, he tries bless him, his front paws go on he wobbles around and then sits down next to you, hes just big to be a lap cat. If I sleep on my belly I'll often wake up to laying on top of him but I have to push him off as it gives back ache lol. He does the hair playing thing a lot, I'll wake up in the night to find him wrapped around my head licking and pawing my hair, its gross!!
But I'm quite happy for him not to be lap cat, we have somali who is rather obsessed with sitting on your lap and it drives me crazy, she always head butting people to get on them. Much prefer how Jimmy follows me around all day and just lays at my feet/next to me, although it never really lasts long as hes always on the move, playing/killing anything that moves.
Our two maine coons occasionally sit on my wifes lap but never on mine. I don't think our British Blue has ever even sat near us!
my three are all different!
Inky loves my lap but i too think she is a little too big to be comfortable and so she ends up shuffling about until giving up and lying on the sofa next to me.
Echo is not a lap cat at all, any affection is all on her terms and i LOVE the rare event that she chooses to come for a cuddle.
but Clover...... she is almost annoying with it! all she want to do is be on my lap or be draped across me in some way! it is lovely but can get a bit much, if i kneel down to play with the children she is trying to fight her way onto my lap the whole time! and she has been this way since being a tiny kitten.
i think its just an individual cat thing rather than a gereral maine coon thing.
It's not true what they say. Both my lads are total lap-dwellers given half a chance. They just need both legs and an arm!
Chalie is a lap cat as long as he can be upside down and I think this is a size thing, he is very long and more comfortable this way. Fred is a demanding lap cat and snuggles right under my chin but not all night just for a while. Daisy if she feels like it. They are all different lol
