I went out in front of my house and for the first time I realized that the stairs in front were hollow and that there was a small entrance underneath! I saw his sad glowing eyes and pulled him out. He was filthy, trembling and had cried himself hoarse. We lived on a busy street so if he had been crying I likely wouldn't have heard him anyway during the day. I'm pretty sure he panicked and hid underneath the stairs the whole time. Look everywhere you could imagine that he could cram himself and don't expect him to come running when he hears you if he's been frightened...best of luck...
