Really think my Buddy has been taught by someone else on here..... but ..... sons bow and arrows etc mounted on wall; two MC's decided they should not be on walls............ hmmm .............. result "Oi CAT put that bow and arrow down, you'll have somebodies eye out" .......... retreated upstairs and waited for snores to remove :koolkat:

On a more archery related note, you shouldn't really leave them strung for long periods - it's not good for the strings or the bows :)
Not guilty!! lol but i can always give him some lessons on bow safety if you like :)
Serious bit: Like Peter says, with older bows it's not good to keep them strung. That looks like quite an old one which means it's probably wooden with old string material. If the string goes it could cause someone a really nasty injury.
Thanks Peter and Mike. This bow is my lads old one (bought second hand) and he hasn't used it for about four years. The "string" on this one is just loose for decorative purposes and the arrowhead has been blunted. His current bow is kept at the shooting club.
Hi Catslave, not trying to be all "Health and Safety" on you (i'm just a worrier) but the string isn't just loose on the bow, the bow would be a totally different shape. The bow in the photos is a strung bow with the limbs under tension.Quote:

Point taken Mick. I've put bow in shed out of coonie reach and will get him to do it when he gets home. We keep is other one at the gun club for safety, just hadn't really thought much about this one. I know my son won't use this one again, but I do see your point and would hate for the cats to get hurt if the string did snap. Thank you x

Thanks again Mick, when my lad came in he argued that he didn't need to do it etc, and the classic "who told you that? And what do they know?" Told him to Google you, 10 mins later without saying a word he went off to the shed and did it. Then up the gun club tonight he told everyone that he had done it and name dropped lol.

All this archery talk has really me realise how much I miss it. So i am going to come out of retirement and start shooting again.
I'm not sure if i can get back to my old standard before London 2012, but technically i still have time to qualify and hey..you never know :)
