OMG Catslave, what a horrible shock for you and Buddy. Very fortunate that you woke up. I hope Buddy gave them a good slashing as he got away. Do call the police about this.
It might be as well to keep Buddy indoors at night, or whenever you are not around.
Hugs to you and Buddy. Hope he's OK. I'm sure he'll be getting lots of tlc to help him recover. x
