Hanks loving change in diet

Just wanted to share a positive change we're going through with Hank... Over the past couple of months he seemed to grow fussier with regards to the food he'd eat. For a while now I've bought him the big multipacks of Iams pouches from pets at home, £15 for 48 pouches with regular special offers on reducing the price to £10 always seemed good to me and he seemed to love all the flavours at first.

Over time though he started rejecting certain flavours so its been touch and go whether he'd finish a pouch or not. A couple of weeks back though I noticed my local Pets at home expanded their range of cat food and started selling Hi-Life so I bought him a box of the 'pots' and the fish pouches.

Well he can't get enough of them, he loves the fish ones, tuna with squid, tuna with salmon... all the fishy ones are left with a licked bowl when he's done so I'm glad to see him really enjoying his meals again but what I have noticed, and I'm not certain whether its the fish oils he's getting now or his winter coat but his coat is really really soft and shiny. He looks in great condition. I'm surprised at the difference in him if it is the food, as I though Iams was supposed to be one of the good ones!

Not surprised about Iams, yes it's one of the good ones according to the marketing, but the ingredients are not great.

Apologies if you are already aware, but worth posting here, that a lot of excellent wet cat food is made in Germany and Sweden, and is available via zooplus. Several brands are completely grain-free so you are getting a much denser meat content which they love and which fills them up nicely.

Some of the food is incredibly expensive, of course, but some of it isn't.
I buy Animonda Carny and Smilla in 400g tins, and the Swedish one Bozita in 410g tins, which works out at around £2.20 - £2.70 per kg - the same or less than Felix, Whiskas & co, and much better quality. If you get a multipack of 24 tins you can try out different flavours. And each purchase earns you some zooplus points which build up and you qualify for freebies from their site.

Be warned though, stay on the cat food pages. I repeat, stay on the cat food pages. Do not wander off into interactive toys, etc etc. :smile:

Yeah I should look into buying bulk from them, I tend to get dry food from them, the big sanibelle bags. Usually with wet food, its a case of 'oh crap hanks only got a few pouches left', then I nip out for restocking :-)

You might want to check out Cosma as well. Very good quality. When I was still feeding canned it was about the only brand my crew actually liked (apart from Whiskas, but I wasn't to keen on feeding that). It is pretty expensive though, as far as I remember.
