OMG! That is hilarious. Luckily it was an artificial tree.
We got our tree into the stand yesterday letting it 'fall' before decorating it. Tiki sniffed around under the tree while I cleaned the needles up. So far so good.

Great photos.
We have attached the tree to the wall so will see what happens now. It was just so funny the way Kenny looked so proud of his work this morning.

Houston, we have success! No falling tree, no decorations have fallen or broke and no new kitty ornament. LOL!
Although it is early, Maya is preoccupied with Tequila and vice versa so I don't think they really get it yet.

I got one of those pop up pre lit pre decorated trees thinking it would be a great idea, no falling needles, no decorating it for hours and never being happy with the outcome...well Bullet has absolutely destroyed it! lol Most of the decs are off it, the lights are ripped off every night and there's a huge hole in the side. I think next year a real tree is in order, will maybe be able to handle my Coonies tree obsession!

I really hate to admit it but I am totally shocked that Buddy has not touched the tree! Ok so it has got giant inflatable snowmen standing guard on each side but he has not as much as played with a bauble or bit of tinsel. The cuddly reindeer that were sitting under the tree are now distributed around the house. It is rather Christmassy seeing Buddy carrying them about.
Why is it that reading this thread I keep singing "oh Christmas Tree, oh Christmas Tree your ornaments are history"?

We started slowly with our artificial tree. 1st put up the tree and strung the lights. Found out that Whiskey loves blinking lights and chewed on them. So now it's solid lights on the tree. Put electric candles in the window which are now retired to the storage after Whiskey knocked them all off the windowsill. Put ornaments up a week later. Started at the top and ended about 1 foot from the bottom of the tree. Now they barely make it to the middle. We have less then a quarter of our decorations out as nothing can go on shelves, ledges, etc as they wind up crashing to the floor. I only have stuffed Christmas bears and snowmen out which are never in the same place that we left them. The lack of decorations make me feel less jolly, but it's ok as we want our MC to be safe. We hope as each year passes, we'll be able to put more decorations out.

When we decided that were we were putting up the tree, I resigned myself that the tree was going to look pretty but it will be decorated with the net lights, ornaments that I didn't care if they broke, and a strand of gold beads. It was just going to be the 'kitties tree'. I even bought a tree without even cutting the string, shaking it down and giving it a twirl before buying it. That's what I usually do. This time it went from the lot into car into the house. Just because it didn't matter. But it turned out to be a 'perfect' looking tree. No missing branches, it's full and most of all, no critters crawling out.
It's still up and none of the kitties are interested. I have not put their presents under the tree yet. This is as close as they get to the tree.Last edited by LilyC; 11th December 2011 at 04:03 AM.

I just watched Whiskey run for the tree, perform a flying leap, and with extreme precision knocked an ornament off to play with. So now the ornaments will have to move higher. Will it ever end...? LOL
