Sylvester has lost his ruff!

Has anyone had a maine coon lose its ruff? Since the colder weather has come Sylvester no longer has his ruff! His fur is still thick and healthy everywhere but his neck fur is shorter. Anyone have any explanations? We were wondering if it's because he's lost his alpha cat status to Dudley!!

Yep my Fred has lost his head side feathers and some of his ruff, back to front cat. Xxx

In the summer he had a ruff very similar to Sylvester's (see profile pic) now it's just short hair which was the same last winter!

Mine have lost their ruffs but it is summer here and Zack in particular looks very funny without it. My friends MC loses his in winter so I think they sometimes get the timing ass up!!!!

Thanks for the replies! How strange that they sometimes get their timing wrong! Dudley hasn't lost his ruff at all and he had a mini one from kittenhood.

Rasputin's coat has definitely thinned now it's winter (he's an indoor cat). He hasn't got a ruff yet but his tail is definitely skinnier than it was in summer!
