Simba is home
Picked up Simba today. All has gone very well. He slept all the way home on my daughter's lap. We put him in a room when we got back away from the dogs and he had an explore, played with his toys ate some food had a drink and went to the toilet in his litter tray in the first hour! He is now asleep. I have shown him to my dogs - they were terrified of him and didn't want to be in the same room and Simba hissed at them. So that's the only thing that is not good so far, but early days and hopefully they will soon get used to each other. I will try to get some pictures in the next few days.

Well last night he slept with my daughter in her bedroom which worked out really well and she is thrilled to be allowed! I put a litter tray up there with him and he used it again last night - what a clever boy! He got her up at 5.30am though so it's a good job she is on half term! When I came into her room this morning he was curled up asleep on her bed with her. He turned his nose up at the Whisker's wet food last night - but loved the Applause can I gave him this morning. I have quite a few different ones to try as got a lot of testers. So far the Applause is winning. Got some Felix as good as it gets to try later. Here are some pics of him.

I put this gate up to separate him from the dogs but it's working well as they can see and smell each other

Well he loved the Felix as good as it gets too, but not eating much. He eats about a teaspoon full three times a day along with his dry food which he nibbles at now and again - is this normal? I leave the wet food down a little while to see if he will eat anymore but he doesn't. He is only doing one poo a day but several wees.
He slept better last night - according to my daughter only waking her at 2.30am this morning briefly by purring in her ear! Very lively this morning though! Dogs are getting better. I let Simba through to the living room yesterday while keeping the dogs on a lead and Elsa and Simba touched noses. Simba is much braver than the dogs - think he already feels above them! They run a mile if he so much as looks at them which makes him feel very big I think

Darling little boy. I love the color--we considered it but ended up red instead. Sounds like a normal kitten. They don't eat much at one time at that age. Just wait, though, because when he is just a bit older he will probably be a pig. Our males by around 16weeks were starting to eat unbelievable amounts of food for such small animals. Between 5 and 6mos. they will grow very rapidly and eat all the time.

Thank you - that's comforting to know. Just fed him his 5pm feed and he had salmon and loved it - he couldn't wait to get to the bowl which was lovely and I'd say he ate a bit more than a teaspoon - hurray! He has had a lot of visitors today and is quite exhausted now I think:smile:

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is totally fab. I still haven't managed to download any pics of Fudge despite having her for a week now! Well done!

Claire, I just uploaded them to photobucket and then copied and paste the img code. I still haven't worked out how to use the albums though which is why my photos are in my post

I feel we have made huge progress today with the dogs and Simba! This morning Simba decided he wasn't frightened of the dogs anymore and cried persistently to be let out of his room. We have been doing this now and again when I have the dogs on a lead. I gave in eventually. Simba has learnt that he only has to look at Maggie and she runs a mile so he walks out of his room feeling very big I think. He is so funny. This evening Elsa and him actually played and I got a snap shot - though not very good. Elsa has learnt that if she lays down low Simba will come towards her - clever girl. When she puts her nose close Simba pats her nose very gently with his paw - so sweet to see them. Maggie is getting there but more slowly as she is more nervous so will take a bit longer I think. But very pleased by the progress so far.
