Hi just a question about my girls if anyone has any advice I would welcome it

I have two girls both have kittens both have been the best of pals forever and in fact were even looking after the kittens together and working like a tag team with feeding. Last night one of my girls suddenly attacked the other I seperated them for a while and rubbed both of them down with feliway and they were happy again but decided to seperate them for the night just incase. So one cat upstairs with her kits the other downstairs with hers. This morning they were crying to get together so I let the mommies in together and within 5 mins the same cat attacked the other. This wasn't mild disagreement I had to scruff the cat both time as she would have attacked me as well. Any ideas why this has happened? The kittens are 24 days old today and the other ones are 27 days. Thanks all :grr::stressed::sad2:

It doesn't always work out with two girls, there is often a dominant female, and she may decide that the kittens are all hers, or maybe one cat accidentally caused a kitten to cry out, the other would become defensive, also the kittens will be getting more mobile now, so mums are more on edge. It would be best, IMO to separate them, or it may escalate and kittens may get harmed, accidentally, or on purpose, in a misguided attempt to protect the den, it may have been nothing to do with the cats, but something that startled them. Whatever caused the disagreement, it is not worth risking further problems, they may try to get back together, and then get angry again, so, sorry, my decision would be seperation, once the kittens are weaned fully, they may go back to being friends, but cats are contrary, so be prepared, they may not.
