Wanted! Recommended reputable breeders.
Hi there! I am new to the forum and wanted some recommendations on breeders in and around the South West of England, South Wales and upto the Midlands. I would love to have a Maine Coon boy kitten to join our family. if you know of a reputable breeder in one of these areas please reply. Thanks.

There are plenty about. Have a look at the Maine Coon Cat Club website for links and kittens available for starters. Then there is the breeders' section on the forum.
I am based in the midlands and currently have kittens. Would it be okay to recommend myself?

Hi there. Many thanks for your reply. Apologies that I haven't replied sooner, I posted this question in two sections of the forum and have only just realised that you have sent me a reply. I have taken a look at your website and must say you have some absolutely stunning looking cats. What a great website too. I have my heart set on a boy kitten. Preferrably silver, silver and white, tabby. Not sure on the exact descriptions used but I have a soft spot for the tabbys although they are all very gorgeous. I can see why one is never enough! You say you have kittens available? Do you have any male tabbys? Thanks again.

hi, I hope I'm a reputable breeder?! Now for the lecture.
Do not buy from someone who hides their kittens's parentage on their websites, and I'm very sorry to say this but do be more wary about UK breeders who are only TICA registered. Also a lot of the guff about being a so and so accedited cattery is just that - guff or tripe!
Study the pix on the Maine coon cat club site... do the cats that are on your chosen breeders website really look like the ones on there are or they just furry moggies. I hate to say this but there are some absolutely rubbish MCs out there and if your are going to hand over £400 at least get a kitten that fits the breed standard. The silver in the pic's head is too narrow and the eyes look like they do not line up properly, its muzzle is too long, not square at all - in short it is not a very good example of the breed at all.
The best thing anyone intersted in buying a good MC kitten can do is to go to a show and look closely at the cats in the Imperial classes, they will all be good cats, buy the catalogue and find out about those cats bloodlines, then hunt down the breeders and buy a well bred kitten!! (Coontastic & Lynxelot are no longer breeding)
End of lecture... as a 'bad' MC will still probably be a lovely pet... it is a cat afterall!
As I drove home from shopping today I saw the shattered remains of a tortie and white cat by the side of the road... when will people stop letting their cats roam and and up splashed along the roadside... much love to dead cat.

Tivicoons you are one of to breeders in your part of the Country that I recommend people to (the other being MickB) I have only been owned by a coonie for a year but in that time have discovered that people are not all they seem and what o the outside appears to be a very good breeder is nothing by a con artist when you look into them fully. Thankfully I have now found someone I trust for my new kitten but if you were closer you would have got a call.
