    Coon chattering

I had only heard of Maine Coons making a chattering noise. I was really surprised when Clancy all of a sudden started chattering at some chickens last weekend. Fortunately I had my camera handy and was able to video it.

Anyone else had the Coon Chatter experience?

    Here's the video.....

Spartacus does that when he looks out the window and sees birds in the yard.

all my cats, 3 coonies and 2 moggies do it to some extent, the moggies do it when they see birds [which is what makes them such useless birders] and the coonies quite randomly, Dizzy is quite loud with his, but then he is very talkative, loud and purrs almost habitually anyway Cute isn't it

Yep all mine have varying degrees of teeth chattering while bird watching, when they sit in a row on the windowsill all doing it "cats choir" takes on an all new meaning, the loudest are Welly,Pansy & Ruby followed by the more mellow tones of Shimba & Merl, Bruce just fills in the gaps occasionaly but a lot of the time the mouth moves & nothing comes out, Clancy is very lucky to have extra big birds to chitter too,are they your chickens....? x

Your "cats Choir" sounds adorable and would make an amazing video. This is the first time I have witnessed cat chattering and it sounds like many here have seen it.
These Maine Coons never cease to amaze me.

Clancy also makes this long trill as he runs through the house that almost sounds like a Indian call...

The video was taken at a local state park that features a small ranch with quite a few farm animals and a great spot to walk the cats.

Whiskey rarely does this while watching birds. But he does this all the time whenever we catch him being bad or when we tell him "no". It's like he's back-talking us and telling us why we're the bad ones and not him.

My two talk back to me too! I have a video of my Marzen talking back to me as I am trying to get him to get out of the dishwasher. Sassy little rascals! (tMarzen also chatters at birds, Winter not so much she just does it to be sassy)
