New Maine Coon/Pixie Bob kitten

Sketches and Fozzie- Thank you very much :) Ya I love him to death he is such a character and I like the dry/wet mix method that JCK uses with only sprinkling some on the wet food I feed him about 3 times a day. He is a pretty hungry guy he can eat all the time I bet and whenever I open the fridge he walks by to check whats in it lol.

JCK- Lol, he already bugs me to throw the balls all the time and he carries them in his mouth sometimes but then gets distracted and starts playing with something else haha. He also loves to intercept the balls I throw over his head by jumping up and blocking them with his body ! He is very active and athletic. My girlfriend has pictures of the mom (maybe) but for sure the dad. I totally should have taken more photos of the mom and dad upclose I don't know why I didn't. Either way I can get some photos for you.

Hi just wanted to add praise to the others who are admiring Ari. Certainly a very endearing MC cross. On the eating front, my MC boy who is coming up to eighteen months and while he ate loads as a young kitten, his appetite had tailed off. Just recently he's been eating a huge number of sachets again. He's very lean, but think he's going into another growth spurt. Also he's started retrieving all sorts of things including food waste sacks and my shoes. Do hope you keep posting updates on Ari, and hope he continues to delight x

Brightlight23- I will definitely be updating and checking out the forums on my free time so you haven't seen the last of Ari and I. I'd like to keep Ari on a all wet diet and I am kind of thinking of just getting the big cans and giving him half of that a feeding. He definitely seems like he can eat more I just don't let him because I wanted him to follow a nice diet. Although I see more and more now that people feed their kitties A LOT as much as they can eat. I want Ari to be a big healthy boy with a nice coat :)

I use cans as they work out a lot cheaper with my lot but that is also why I put in some extra vitamins early on to help too,my last babe could polish of a tin & a half a day with some bickies but at eight months she is now starting to pull back quite a lot although still eats more than the adult boys....
Yep please would just like to see parents as a matter of interest but in a way dad more important have seen magazine pictures of his breed but would be nice to see one that you know is producing offspring now but then wouldn't want to leave mum out as she played a big part didn't she so back to where I came in,both please...!

On the diet question, wet is definitely the way to go. Unfortunately there is a lot of confusion around feeding and conflicting information out there. What Sketches was told is all too common:

The idea that wet food is pointless because it's full of water is totally wrong. Cats need to take in a lot of water with their food, as they are not great drinkers. So the high water content of wet food is essential for their good health. A lack of water intake over the long term can lead to painful bladder problems. There was an IAMS dry food advert recently which was allowed to claim value for money because of a lack of water content. Complaints were made to the ASA but they were not upheld.

The other problem with dry food is that it is high in grains and low in protein, and the quality of that protein is questionable. Still, if fed in small amounts it's pretty harmless.
