sleeping arrangements

Last night Simba made a big change - for the first night we let him choose where he wanted to sleep and left the doors open. He came up to my room with me and the dogs at 11pm and got quite excited - he loved the big bed and started pouncing on my feet under the duvet. The dogs were a bit miffed that he was allowed on the bed and they weren't though:LOL: I put a litter tray in our on-suit and hoped he would use it - although he could get to his usual one downstairs I thought it might be a bit of a journey for him. In the morning he did use it so that went well. I'm not sure he stayed in our room all night but at 7am this morning I was awoken with a load purring in my ear!

Poor puppies... but at least Simba had fun.

I haven't decided yet what we will do when Gryfn arrives. Currently we shut our moggies into the laundry at night, but occasionally let them have the run of the house. Depends if they're being good or not.

I'm thinking I will put a clothes basket beside the bed for him with a fur blanket in it. the laundry with the litter tray in it isn't far. But the first night or 2 I might shut him in the laundry. Will ahve to see what happens with the other cat.

Yes I think it's a good idea to keep them to one room to start with. Simba was in my daughter's bedroom for the first couple of weeks until I was sure he and the dogs were OK.

If you are happy never to have another "lie-in" then by all means allow them in the bedroom.

I have forgotten what a "lie-in" is, as we are now woken every morning, with pawing and poucing on the bed :AddEmoticons0091:

He did choose to sleep 2/3 nights in his cat tree but has decided the bedroom suits him much better :LOL:

Both Storvenn and Loki have had full run of the house since day 3 or 4. They have been pretty good in working out when I want to sleep.
I tend to go to bed, play the duvet game with them for about 2 - 3 mins and then lie down and go to sleep. They go to sleep on the bed too. We do have a super king size bed so there is plenty of room for them as they grow bigger :)

Dont tend to have too much of an issue lately with 'WAKE UP!' attacks. Storvenn is normally the culprit but thats getting less and less (watch this change now... ).

Our guys are allowed in the bedroom from the first night. We did have a bit of a fiasco with the first cat when doing this as she would go a bit nutty when fully charged of a morning as a growing kitten but once she had a friend it was no longer directed at us.

They sleep with us fine, don't wake us up aside from a very occasional batting of toes or sleeping on backs. Sometimes they sleep on the pillow between us, sometimes under the duvet between us, sometimes at the foot of the bed & usually they sleep in the washing basket. Close but not getting a kick in the chops.

I feel really guilty,mine are all put to bed in their own room{music/computer room during the day}cat room at night ! When you bang the supper dishes six furries descend & all go to their feeding stations in their beds,come the morning there is normally only two of them who have changed places.Of course if they are poorly then they are allowed to stay the night down the sitting room with extra fluffy blankets & a dish of special food,one of the boys,Bruce,has cottoned onto this & very often feels quite poorly,a lot poorly than you think mum two nights at least.....

I actually picked up a fur blanket when in perth last for Gryfn for his bed. I'm going to put it into a basket by the bed for him.
Same colouring as him too... dark grey...
