Food Maze

My furries say a big thank you to Alekto for posting about the maize.... They are not allowed many bikkies & I never leave any down but thanks to the maize they can now have them left to pick at when they wish,afternoons they always had a few biscuits as a treat but now I can put half the usual amount into the maize & the fact they have to work for them they don't eat anywhere near as many & it lasts all day.....
Welly & Ruby have got it down to a fine art although if she gets frustrated Ruby just up ends the whole thing,that works thanks mum,Shimba can do it but he has found when it's full it is quite easy to put his head in the top & use it like a dish,Bruce has got a few out & thanks to watching Ruby realises that when you hear something falling it is eyes to the bottom & paw out quick to rescue your winnings from the others,Pansy P bless her is yet to work it out so she still has a few treats placed in front of her....
If they used it no more it would have been worth while just watching the antics of the different cats but I can't see it being ignored so their "early"Easter pressie is a big hit....!

Neevie also tends to use it as a dish when it's full, so I try to push them around the edge so it's a bit more difficult

she tries, but there's a rubber ring thing at the bottom to keep it stable that works pretty well to fend against pirates...

Ruby is the only one as I said in my post who will knock it over in frustration if she thinks she isn't get enough out after a lot of hard work,interestingly have noticed that she draws a big furry audience if her wails wind up as the others seem to know that there could soon be a free feast to hand,none of the others do it though only her & it isn't happening so much now she is learning it's a no no,we have a double catic track & it does sit very snug at one end with the rubber bit going under the track but when the titbit drops into the trough at the bottom & the cat flicks it out with a paw it very often drops in between the maize & track,now the boys sit for ages trying to get it out bless them but a certain little girl who says b****r that & upends the track as well,now that is a big crash so have just left maize freestanding & no probs not even when the race round is on & I love watching the intense concentration on their faces as their paws are trying to work the "prize" down through the levels.... It reminds me of the show that used to be on telly,Dropping Point,as the cats actually work out that they have to get it to a certain point in the maize & get their paw at the right angle to get it to drop through to the next level so they go from sitting in one spot & hoping to moving round & using another paw hole to better advantage.....

Ginger is still small enough that she can stick her entire head through the top hole! So I put the kibble in the middle rung. My beagles are very jealous and want to get the treats, they will knock it over if they get a chance! Stolen kitty treats are so much better than doggy treats!

Thanks for posting the link. Ours arrived today. Maxwell has really enjoyed playing with the food & eventually eating it. Darcie-lu, on the other hand, sat & looked at it for a few minutes, then stood up on her back legs, leant against the top ring with one paw & proceeded to munch the biscuits out of the top shelf.:koolkat: WOMEN RULE! (well, MC females do)

okay now convinced my boys are the dumbest maine coons ever ... they have had this for ages and just cannot get the hang of it
