Lily pollen
I'm not sure how well known this information is here, but I thought I should share it just in case.
For those unaware, lilies are very poisonous to cats. From what I've read, even very small amounts of the pollen can do tremendous damage. Despite knowing this, a few months back I brought some into the house since I adore lilies. I watched Oliver sniff it and walk away uninterested, so figured it would be safe enough. Later, he ended up brushing against the vase slightly as he walked past it, and pollen fell onto his nose. My husband and I panicked, and had a very difficult time trying to clean it off his face. We couldn't be completely sure he hadn't ingested any, so we wrung our hands for the next 24 hours, kicking ourselves. Moral of the story: don't risk it!
