Drop the ball, squash the ball, spank the ball

When Neevie plays, often she'll drop whatever she's playing with, for example a ball, then like she's being distracted and doesn't really realise what she's doing she walks over it and then lies down on it, so that it is a bit squished under her tummy. Then she looks like "oh look what happened! who put that there!? well I ain't getting up for it!" and then starts a kind of back leg kick as it tickles her tummy, like she wants to expell it from under there... and then inevitably after a while ends up rolling over on her side and spanking the living daylights out of the toy in question...

The first few times I observed it I thought she hadn't lied down on it on purpose and that she was really distracted, and laughed because she was a wally and it was tickling her tummy.
But now I see she's really more and more doing a play of "lalala, I'm looking at something else and being distracted looking at the wall, lalala oh I kind of feel like lying down just riiiiight.... here... HEY! what's that!" kind of thing. :rofl:

Anyway - is it just her? do yours do something similar?

or do they have another quirk that makes you wonder what kind of wally you have in your house? ;-)

Alekto, that is so funny, I love how they amuse themselves and us at the same time! We have mirrored doors on the office closet and Ginger walks up to the mirror and talks to the kitty in it. Sometimes she tries to engage her image in play, which is pretty funny as she never gets the jump on the kitty in the mirror. She walks up to it and mews at really loud. I asked my husband if he thought she knew that was herself? oh wells, at least she has a cat friend! =^..^=

hahaha if you can't get another MC, Donna, you can still cover your house in mirrors ... :laugh:

haha yes, the beagles think she is crazy, I noticed today she was mewing at a bug on the ceiling, I yelled hubby come kill this bug! yuck she is a bug alarm!

I can only speak from my experience with one of my old moggies, Bruno used to sit on George (my old horse that I had cremated, he is in a wooden box in the living room ! lol) and stare at the wall for ages and ages not moving ! lol He also tried to catch the snooker balls on the tv when it was on !!! lol Sounds like you have a real character there Alekto !! lol

yeah she's really funny - now that she's calmed down a lot she's no longer so cranky I can really enjoy the pirate I have at home!

My boy does the same thing, along with some soccer/ football moves. The wally moments are too numerous to mention!

I love to watch her do that - she did it just this morning! :-D
also - I noticed, while some cats and dogs go fetch a ball, then bring it back for you to throw it from where you are, right? - Neevie "runs" (it's pronounced "stampedes") after it, but then reaches it and just sits beside it expecantly - like "OK, I found it, it's here, you can come and get it and trow it again now". Rince/repeat indefinitely. Of course I'm happy to oblige, though my little brains are having difficulties understanding the point of this obviously too elaborate game.

I had a Persian cat (Kitty) that would chase a hockey puck across the tv, she spent may hours watching hockey with her mommy. She also enjoyed a cartoon that was on that was a cat silhouette in black and white, crazy kitty.

You have more energy and patience than I do! Somewhere I read to exchange the toy with a treat: After they run after the toy, go to them, give them a treat and take the toy away. After repeating it a bunch of times, they might learn that they can bring it back to you and speed up the trading process.

I had a MC named Buster and he just started doing it naturally, I would shoot hair ties across the room and he would bring them back to me. He also growled when someone came to the door, he thought he was a dog. He had a long love affair with my German Shepherd Muffin, but that's another story........ Love my Kitties
