Oh dear, not great. I am happy that I have taken her now.
She actually has tonsillitis and laryngitis and she has, as suspected, an eye infection from a scratch on the inner eyelid (probably an optimistic infection). Not good news, but it explains a lot. Last night she used her litter box properly so if she was having troubles the vet says she isn't now. She's had her first dose of painkillers and antibiotics. She is a lot better than she was, but hopefully this will start to show improvement within the week. If not it's back to the vet to get further testing.
I am now quite angry, surely the breeder would know that her cats were not very well. When we first got Cpt. Nemo he did show signs (that I can only see now looking back) of being not quite well. Shortly after we got him we all got ill - flu for me and the other half, a cat that preferred to sleep on the cold lino than on anything comfy and then Wicker took that turn. If it is viral I'd say she is almost at the end of it and just have to clear up the lingering infections. I think whatever Nemo had has cleared up, am going to take him for a check up anyways to be on the safe side, although he had been vet checked and they are all up to date on vaccinations. :S
I've apologised at her kitty feet for thinking she was just being stroppy, hopefully after all this Wicker and Nemo will get along with few problems.

Muddledmiss,
I have to say that is one beautiful MC you have! absolutely love his color! It is nice to see the two cats together, I forget how much larger Ginger is than a moggie. Sorry I can not add to the thread as Ginger is an only cat! Good luck these things have a way of working themselves out.

I remember being quite surprised when my vet told me that humans and pets can give each other the flu. A few years ago when that H1N1 "swine flu" was going around the US we all got it. A week after the humans recovered Bengal Brat and Mandy started acting strangely, sleeping on the floor next to the heater vents and not eating. Mandy was very dehydrated and needed sub cutaneous fluids. Both girls had high fevers-not a surprise since two of my three kids reached 105.5F when they had this flu.
I'm wondering if your MC brought the flu home to you guys, and I think I would ask the breeder if they've been ill recently. That strain can kill cats and dogs-my vet had a few unfortunate cases that did not make it, so I wouldn't take this lightly.

dont push them to be friends. i introduced a 9 week old to my cats. 2 x 7 year old ragdoll brothers and a 5 year old ragdoll/british short hair cross who is the son of one of the other boys. the younger cat took to him straight away (surprisingly since he is a moody sod), one of the older boys was ok but not really interested and the final one was very upset. when the kitten came near him he growled and hissed, would not be in the same room as him and things like that. 2 weeks on and they all play together and sleep together. the younger of the older boys definately has the greater bond with the kitten but they are all fine now. keep an eye on them but dont try to rush them

UPDATE: She is eating. I found a whiskers that has real chunks of fish in it! Very happy, very fishy smell and she loves this but still won't touch her normal food. I have definitely spoilt this madam.
They are also playing-ish. I'm trying to keep them somewhat apart for her sake but things aren't turning out that way, so hey - let them get on with that! She was rolling onto her back, croaking at him (no aggression! YAAAY) and patting at him with her paw from behind the couch. She wouldn't let him get too close without hissing and smacking but this is a brilliant sign for me! Almost an invite but she's also like "Come and play at my house, take backsies! You can't come!"
Donnad - that's alright! I think the nature of this thread took a turn after the vet visit anyways. He's almost 6 months now and almost twice her size (she is small/was the runt) but he's gonna be a biggun!
MandyCoonie - I think what has been passed onto us and Wicker was Strep. I had pharyngitis and an ear infection and the OH had a chest infection. He got it first and it was (this may all be coincidental) two days after bringing Cpt. Nemo home and being sneezed on full in the face (which was funny at the time) It wasn't like he was sneezing all the time so thought he had just sniffed too hard! Then I got ill a few days after - probably from the OH or because I had slept in the kitten room.
Since starting the antibiotics yesterday and having had her third dose this morning I was surprised to hear that her voice is coming back - so the laryngitis is clearing up. The pain killers have helped tremendously and she has been strutting her stuff all of yesterday and today.
Richie - Hi Richie, I haven't rushed or pushed them in any way. I don't force them into the same rooms together - that's just where they choose to end up. I also keep them separate at night so that my girl can get better. She chooses to follow him. This was just a case of progress being stopped because she wasn't well and I misread as unhappiness at new intruder in her home.

UPDATE: You would not believe the progress that has been made! XD Nemo slept outside of the kitten room! Wicker got right up to him and sniffed his bib!
Poops are being had by all! *HURRAH*
She can now make some noise and greeted me with a rumbling chirp and a purr last night. She follows him every where (still with the occasional hiss)
And Nemo is learning his place.
I don't want to count my chickens before they've hatched but SQWWEE!

Isn't it wonderful when they feel good?? I'm so happy things are settling down for you! I don't know if you've ever watched My Cat From Hell but the guy on the show always stresses to owners that if a cat is acting out take it to the vet-and 99% of the time the cat needs medical attention. I wonder if my Merlin was tossed out with the trash (literally-he was left next to a dumpster) because of his aggression. So many cats are abandoned because people dont want to truly find a solution, and i know how hard it can be-but that is no excuse. One can only imagine their pain because they cannot tell us, and Merlin's teeth were so infected he could not eat and was starving to death. Your furbabies are lucky to have an attentive Mama. Good for you and your little ones!
