hi - i have seen that some people take their MCs ourt for a walk with a harness , when do you start with that - when they are still kitten, or do you wait a bit ?

We started after a few days we had Sif. Because not all cats stand to be led, or even the harness. If she was rejecting the harness we would have stopped straightaway, but she is doing well, she was on a lead around the house for a couple of minutes each time. Not ready for a walk yet, though! ;)

I spent 20 mins trying to get my 5 month old into a jacket/hardness. He just rolled onto the floor and twisted out of it before I could grab the lead. He didn't like having it on once I finally did get it on and just started biting it. I may give it another try but he is the nuttiest cat i've ever owned, he has two modes, on and off, nothing in between!
As soon as you get it on, pick him up and take him straight outside. In my experience, they soon forget about the harness as there are far too many interesting sights, smells and noises to worry about!
Sif never gave problems with the harness and we started to see if she could wear one long before she went for her first walk. Now if she wants to go outside she goes to the cupboard where the leash is kept ;) however she is a very laid back coonie, I have no idea if next one will be so easy to train!
