Vet visit

Just brought Harry back from the vets for his 10 day check after having his hernia op. He was such a good boy even when the vet took his stiches out he didn't make a peep. He had a bit of a fright when the vet gave him his worming meds this time it was a tablet (been paste before) administered with some sort of pipe .

The vet weighed him in a 4.5kg which he said was about right for his age although to expect a growth spert in the next couple of months. BUT how proud was I when the vet (who was different vet to the normal one ) said that Harry was a stunning example of a beautiful breed ! :koolkat:

Poor Harry did the nasty vet make you take that nasty poison :LOL: glad he's ok.

It will be interesting to see how much weight he puts on & Louie does untill Louie has the snip I'l have to get some batterys for the Wii board & weigh him :nod:

Well done Harry having your stitches out & not complaining,if you had come to see my boss for your worming he just tips your head back drops it in a quick poke with his finger,done....
Great that you had a vet that knew about the breed,who came out with the biggest head then,Harry or mum !

Poor Harry, glad he's OK. Simba may need to go through having his hernia out one day. I'm taking him back to the vet next week to get that checked and to get more worming tablets. I'm dreading trying to give him them. Simba is practically the same age as Harry and Louis so I will ask the vet to weigh him when I go to find out what he is.

Oh, yes, definitely! Hobbes did exactly that and is now our Big Laddie (although he'd have to go some to catch up with Spike).

Karena, is Simbas hernia an umbilical hernia, only our vet said that he wouldn't have recommended it unless he was going under with the neutering, so maybe if that's the case it may not be necessary as Simba has already been neutered. Apparently it's quite common but again it's all new to me and he left it to us to say whether or not to do it.

Yes it is an umbilical hernia so hopefully he won't need anything doing to it. Our vet said I just had to keep an eye on it and if it got bigger they may need to think about closing it - but hopefully it won't. I do feel it every time I pick him up though.

Sounds exactly the same as Harry's, we could feel his too, but it never seemed to bother him when we picked him up, I think we worried about it more. I am sure the vet will advise you, but lets hope it's all ok.

That's how our vet did it! I'm aiming for him to worm them with each booster! No buster pill giver for me!
