Winston's First Stay in a Cattery
We are just back after a wonderful hillwalking weekend in County Wicklow.
We found a wonderful cattery only 15 min from where we live so we dropped him off on Friday. We picked him up today and he was really happy to see us!
All in all the stay went very well but I have never seen a kitty so content to be home

Glad he seemed to enjoy it , my dsh normally ignores me for a few hours after collection , just to let me know she's disgruntled with me!

Winstons first stay
We have three pens when we go away, daughters two & one of mine go into one,the two that have to have their food intake watched into another & final three into the third,we have only once placed them into their respective runs in this way & since then when we arrive the cattery owner opens the doors of our pens,we let the cats out & they all find their own way in & with their right companions & seeing that they are normally well spred along the corridor thats not bad going but when we go to pick up we have to manually go in & get most of them out, they always seem very happy & contented either laying on the shelves or out in the runs playing which is really great because it makes leaving them so much easier.I know that they also provide quite a bit of entertainment for other cat owners who can't believe the size of them...first time is always hard though isn't it because no one can look after our pride & joy quite the same, can they !

JC :What clever kitty's to find their own pens
It's true what you say about the first time leaving them in a cattery, being difficult. I was actually counting down the time till we picked him up!
He looked pretty cross when we arrived so we chatted with the lady outside before venturing into his booth. He then got rather cocky and started to parade around his glass booth before playing peekaboo with the kitty nextdoor. I have to say he has been more affectionate then usual. Prehaps he thought we were not coming back to get him

[QUOTE=IrishKitty;3772]JC :What clever kitty's to find their own pens .
I don't know if they were being clever or were just aware that they had a more peaceful life that way round & were determined to enjoy it again, the fact that the two on a diet were together meant the others could have food left down all the while, not a luxury they enjoy at home, plus the two noisey babes were out of the way so they didn't have to duck & dive when they fired up,the only one I was worried about the first time was where to put the little flat chested girl, she would fight daughters female cat if put in with them, could have put her in with the dieters but thought it a shame she should miss out on running buffet so put her in with the two babes with instructions left to move her in with the dieters if a problem,no way, they said she either joined in or if things were getting too much she hit the highest shelf out of the way & sat looking at them with her tounge hanging out.She loves to play but with her problem it is in short bursts & then recovery time is needed but being a girl....!!!! she has it sussed out.
