    New Adult Cat

    Hi

I need some advise. About a week and a half ago, I added a 3 year old adult female Maine Coon to my household (Scratch). She has always been in a cattery. However, she was shown and is a finished champion and is used to being around people. I already had a 6 year old Maine Coon, spayed female and two dogs. The breeder is no longer going to be in the busines and is placing her adult cats and Scratch is one of them. I brought her home and put her in the basement along with a kitty litter and and fresh water and food. I leave the basement doon open so that my other cat can get access to the kitty litter boxes too and they can come in and out of the basement as they please. ( the dogs do not go into the basement). The new cat will not come out of the basement! In fact, she mostly is staying in the crawl space. She is using the kitty litter box and is eating well and drinking water. Just doesn't want to interact. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to make her feel more comfortable and happy.
