Interestingly, our one year old male, Zephyr, has also quit purring over the last several months. When he was a baby, he used to purr any time anyone got close to him. Now, however, we hear nothing. Sometimes we will notice him breathing rapidly a repeatedly, and if you put your ear against him you can hear some slight purring, but very quiet. In addition, when he is doing this, he is inhaling/exhaling must faster than the others (which have nice loud purrs).
